Twin Six’s New Standard CX Frame Sep 30, 2014

The third new offering from Twin Six is arguably one of the most in-demand offerings: a steel, disc cross bike. The Standard CX is made from 853 and comes with a carbon fork. It’s sold as a frameset only and will be released next spring, unfortunately missing this year’s cross season but as readers of this site are well aware, a cross bike lives in the woods year-round.

Frame seems future proof; discs, EBB, swappable QR/TA front and back, 44mm HT, tapered fork? Also looks like full housing for all cables too.IMHO looks pretty good too. Pretty sweet.

Looks sweet. I love all the new steel cross rigs coming out. Swobo has a pretty sweet one too that I’ve been seeing info on. Looks like a new adventure bike is in my future with all the good stuff coming out!

Over press fit bottom brackets. I have a chris king and I’ve still had some issues with creaking on my All City Nature Boy Zona. I understand why people use them, but I just don’t like them.

    • My secret: tons of grease. Like, a lot of it. Like, it should be creeping out of the cups. I’ve got three bikes with PF30 and haven’t had an issue. Meanwhile, I have to replace my GXP every 4 months.

Try anti seize. It won’t wash out over time.

  • those TwinSix bikes are ultra cool! However, I need a CX bike now. Not in spring when the CX season is over..

  • Charles Southgate

This or AC NB 853..? Lower price point here with more flexibility in modular rear dropout.

    • I would go for a TwinSix, the fork, derailleur hanger and BB on the CX standard sell it for me!

  • Rasmus Riemann

Any pictures of the green one?

  • Ken Neville

Those dropouts look like they’d split to allow a belt drive as well.
I’m surprised that’s not listed in the specs?

  • This bike somehow never happened..
