Radar Roundup: Chris King Guest House, Terske Ti Headset Spacers, Merckx Re-Up, Knox Bike Swap & Show, Bikepacking Gear Library, and Racing Arizona

Our Radar Roundup compiles products and videos from the ‘net in an easy-to-digest format. Read on below for today’s findings…

Chris King Guest House at Caletti Cycles

If you’re going to Sea Otter and will be in the Santa Cruz area a few days prior, then roll on by the Chris King Guest House event. John will be on-site documenting bikes and hanging out, so be sure to say hello!

Agave Finishworks Terske Ti Spacers $4.24

50% of the purchase price will be donated to Dine’ Bike Project and NavajoYES, which invest in trail projects and empower youth with an active lifestyle on the Navajo Nation. The Dine’ Bike Project is a rez-wide project to promote biking and community wellness on the Navajo Nation, working towards the goal of encouraging fitness and family togetherness through biking.

Terske’s custom titanium headset spacers are precision machined in their own arc design, saving weight and masking seams between spacers. The scalloped design weighs less than 0.5g per mm and integrates beautifully with small-diameter, lightweight stems.

Check them out, along with lots of beautiful anodized Ti products at Agave Finishworks!

Another Archive Re-Up: John’s Eddy Merckx Professional

John always loved the Merckx Professionals, with their flat crown forks and Columbus SL tubing, yet this bike looked a bit strange compared to the catalog spec Professionals. The seller claims it was from the European Championships in 1982 at Goodwood with the Belgian team. ’82… Giuseppe Saronni got first, Lemond got second and Sean Kelly, third. Sounds like a good year.

… but, that fork. He had never seen a sloping crown Merckx prior to 1985. Those seat stay caps point to a post-1985 bike. He also never saw a single bottle cage Merckx before. The over-the-bottom-bracket-routing puts in the early 1980’s though. There’s a story there, somewhere and John just had to find it. Check out this re-up for a unique and damn pretty Merckx Professional!

We Built a Bikepacking Gear Library for Radical Adventure Riders

Hannah from Queer Cyclist helped build a gear library for the Atlanta chapter of Radical Adventure Riders (RAR ATL). Bikepacking / bike camping is an inaccessible sport for many reasons, and we created a community library to loan out gear for bike adventures to help reduce barriers to access. Riders who identify as femme, trans, women, and/or nonbinary are welcome to use this resource.

Racing Arizona: Elizabeth Sampey and the Arizona Trail

Revel Bikes team rider, Elizabeth Sampey, revisits the Arizona Trail 2 years after setting the Fastest Known Time.

We’d just like to say that this video title is a great reference to one of the best comedies from the 1980s!
