Cinelli’s Bootleg Hobo site just got a new addition:

“Hobo is a totally new steel frame bicycle, engineered and equipped for off-road rides on long distances, already proving itself along the adventurous 12.000 kilometres of the 2013 Tour d’Afrique. TdA is a world renowned endurance-race, now in its 11th edition. What better way for the hobo to announce itself to the world than with 3 distinguished Cinelli riders blazing across the African terrain.

Chas Christiansen, 100% pure San Francisco and one of the top riders of the Cinelli Mash Team, an iconic figure of the fixed-gear culture, always on the highest steps of Criteriums, Alleycats and Cyclo-Cross Single-Speed races podiums.

Lucas Brunelle, native of Boston, is an established filmmaker who introduced a unique first-person filming technique in cycling races thanks to his great riding skills and the innovative helmet-integrated camera-system. Lucas is responsible for filming and reporting the most extreme race contests all over the globe for more than ten years.

Dario Toso couldn’t miss out, designer and explorer of the contemporary and long-time ambassador of the “Bootleg State of Mind”.”

… and they mean business for the Red Hook Crit Navy Yard. Three guys from Division 1, a new bike shop on the East Side of Austin will be there racing. More on their bikes tomorrow!

Cinelli has teamed up with Fifo Cycle in Red Hook, Brooklyn to make a limited edition bespoke cycling cap for Spring/Summer 2013. Made from linen and cotton and screen printed and sewn by hand, this fully reversible hat takes it’s inspiration from 1960’s pop art.

“We wanted to stay true to the impact the Cinelli branding has had on cycling graphics and to harken back to their vintage design legacy. It has been an extremely exciting project for Fifo Cycle…just the kind of design challenge that gets us spinning in the studio! We used transparent water based inks on natural fabrics to give the hat a vintage feel and an Oxford stripe on the reverse side to keep it dapper and fresh!”

Product Details: A fully reversible lightweight cycling hat from Fifo Cycle. Handmade in New York with cotton and linen, and screen printed with water based ink.

One size fits most: 21″-24″

I’ve been wanting to shoot photos of Melissa and her Cinelli Bolt since this summer but never got the chance to. Earlier this week, my Mamiya 7ii came in the mail and I had to do a test roll, which is when I finally bumped into Melissa with a camera in hand. The photos came out great and although I can see a few things I’ll have to be mindful of (keeping those vertical lines straight, proper exposure with the meter, etc), I’m very pleased with the Mamiya 7ii. Even scanning medium format on my dinky Epson v600 produces great results (see above).

One of the first alleycats I raced in was Monster Track. At the time, it was one of the most exhilarating experiences I have had. It’s crazy to think that this race is in its 14th year and has influenced alleycats the world over.
