This week’s Readers’ Rides comes from Chris in the UK and his Brother Cycles Kepler with a wild 90s-inspired paint scheme. Check out all the trimmings in detail below!
Brother Cycles’ Big Bro rigid mountain bike is a favorite among trail riders as well as bikepackers and for 2021, it got a bit of a refresh. The obvious change is this new yellow paint job, while the drivetrain has gone boost-spacing.
Now the Big Bro comes in 12x148mm rear spacing and 15x110mm front. The rest of the specs remain the same as the 2020 model.
You can now pre-order the new Big Bro at Brother Cycles.
The Kepler is Brother Cycles’ do it all drop-bar bike. Gravel, light touring, commuting, and forest-bound shenanigans. The Kepler is a 4130 frame, with ED coating under the paint to prevent corrosion, can run either 700×45 or 650×48 wheels, has mounts for racks/fenders, with three bottle mounts. For 2021 the new Kepler now features flat-mount thru-axle dropouts with a replaceable derailleur hanger, s-shaped chainstays, and a unicrown steel fork.
Price for us non UK/EU dwellers is £520.83 which is not bad at all!
Pre-order your Kepler at Brother Cycles today for a October 12, 2020 release date.
Brother Cycles is giving away a Big Bro frameset (size Medium) custom painted by Cole Coatings Workshop – a London-based custom paint specialist. This ‘Big Bruv’ livery features orange and green paint with an elaborate leaf pattern marching across the front of the frame. All you’ve gotta do is sign up for Brother Cycles’ email list by 11:59PM on November 15th.
A rigid mountain bike makes for a great bikepacking rig, or singletrack slicer, and rigs like the Big Bro from Brother Cycles are timeless. It has mounts for bags and cargo cages, clearance for 3″ tires on 27.5+ wheels or up to 2.4″ if you’d prefer a 29er. Best of all, it’s on sale now, at 30% off, bringing the price in to £384.30 INC VAT. See more at Brother Cycles.
Brother Cycles and Pannier took to a three-night guided bikepacking trip, escaping into the heart of Wales, exploring the region’s single-track roads, gravel, forests & moorland wilderness.
Back in April, Brother Cycles invited 170 cyclists to a camp in the New Forest for their annual Brother in the Wild 2018 event. Over the next two days, participants would enjoy bikepacking and dirt road riding.
Pannier and Brother Cycles collaborated on a video project in which the riders explore the Cape Wrath track, the north-westerly part of Scotland.
Rigid 29’r frames make excellent bikepacking rigs, especially when they have braze ons for racks and clearance for 2.4″ tires. Brother Cycles recently teased their newest offering: the Big Bro rigid 29’r. Marketed as a bike suitable for the Tour Divide, the Big Bro has potential to be much more.
