Radar Roundup: Livestock x Adidas Consortium Velosamba, Black Magic for SRAM x ENVE, Search and State Chainstitched Merino, State Bicycle Co x Taco Bell, and LA Invitational Registration

Our Radar Roundup compiles products and videos from the ‘net in an easy-to-digest format. Read on below for today’s findings…

Livestock x Adidas Consortium Velosamba $170 CAD

Last year saw the release of the shoes everyone wanted in the early aughts: a clipless Samba shoe. Adidas finally delivered the Velosamba and today, Livestock announces its collaboration with Adidas, the Consortium Velosamba that pays homage to the unique style of the bike courier community by pairing technical ballistic nylons with hard wearing suede, hi-visibility branding, and 3M details.

Designed with city riding, commuting, and indoor cycling in mind, it’s the incognito bike shoe. It’s two-bolt cleat compatible with a full-length reinforced midsole for efficient pedaling that still flexes for comfortable walking. “TRIPLE RUSH”—a term coined by NYC bike courier dispatchers to denote the highest priority packages—is emblazoned on the side of the shoe in vibrant orange next to adidas’ iconic three stripes.

Livestock, together with Standert, also designed a custom-painted, one-of-one Umlaufbahn track bike to coincide with the Livestock Velosamba. The Umlaufbahn frame is Standerts’ answer to the perfect track bike: light and stiff enough for the velodrome while remaining highly capable in the streets.

Black Magic ENVE MOG SRAM Force/XX SL Eagle AXS Transmission

Our friends at Black Magic Paint just wrapped a project with ENVE and SRAM, featuring a SRAM Force XX SL Eagle AXS Transmission build, resulting in a high-performance, lightweight gravel bike with a massive gear range. We asked Black Magic to explain the paint scheme and ideation:

“The Mog’s design was actually one of two recent Enve custom paint/builds we did for display here in our shop now that we are an Enve Ride Center selling the Mog and Melee and to go to a couple events this spring for fun. We get a lot of requests for race car designs from F1, Porsche, etc. on all kinds of bikes we paint here and a couple of us happened to come across a couple of car designs outside of the more common ones like Gulf, Martini, etc. that really caught our eye. Rudi liked some of the designs that have been on some of the new Audi F1 race cars and electric prototypes which is where the Mog’s inspiration came from. He did his thing and the finished frame happened to tie in perfectly with the gray accents on the G23 and the look of the new XX SL transmission of the Mog’s build.”

“Around the same time I had seen a Ferrari prototype design from a car in the Ferrari museum that caught my eye. I’ve never been too into race cars and the look of them but have always had a thing for white road bikes with black graphics/accents for a clean look. Evan took a couple of photos and came up with this masterpiece on the Melee that we built up with black Dura Ace Di2. The hope was that neither stood out to most as an obvious race car inspiration, but more just two cool designs that had something in common that most people would overlook considering their completely different look.”
