Today, we’re pleased to host the latest to roll from The Vanilla Workshop and Speedvagen, a titanium rim brake road bike dubbed the Autumn Road.

Speedvagen has always been about serious racing machines with beautiful hues and paint schemes that are rarely seen in the bike world. Tied together by great stories, hard rides, and good friends. From the gun, there was that dichotomy of a beautiful machine produced from grit and grime, with trusty old tools.

It’s ingrained in us and our roots and our employees’ roots. Sacha and Woody were bike messages during their formative years. Most of us spent the majority of our earlier years on either BMX bikes or Skateboards. These gritty beginnings influenced us from the start, up until this day.

Coming into our shop feels a bit like heading to a show, there’s a buzz, a vibe, energy. When it’s on, things just flow and it’s a damn party of getting shit done. Wanting to end the year on a strong note, we wanted to capture this energy and feeling and put it into one unit.  How do you touch on our beginnings, where our heads are now, and what’s inspiring our future?

What does that look like in bike form?

Taking the success of their OG-1 road bike completes and bringing it to the next level, Speedvagen has just announced their Disc OG road. These bikes are sold as completes only, with a Shimano group of your choice and are tuned to be a precise ride or race bike with no frills.
Think of it as a workhorse, not a showhorse.

Speedvagen’s Ready Made program looks to get you on top of one of their bikes, minus the lengthy wait, and premium price, associated with a fully custom frame. These bikes come in completes only, built with a carefully selected component selection, and in two models. It seems like the Vanilla Workshop might bring back the Speedvagen Track bikes in their Ready Made program. I know the track bike’s heyday might be waning but surely people would race these at events like the Red Hook Crit or their local velodrome. With ‘cross season right around the corner, Speedvagen unveiled its new Ready Made race frame. These stock-sizing frames come in two Team Issue bike kits, the CX-R with SRAM Force 1 and CX-X with Shimano 1x and begin at $5,995 with three paint options. The pre-order is open for two weeks (July 18th – Aug 1st). Once the window is closed, they’re going to move into production and get your bike to you in time for Cyclocross season. The Urban Racer sure did make waves around here when it was launched back in 2015. Like all of Speedvagen’s bikes, it was a bespoke, handmade-in-Portland frame, with all the details we’ve come to expect from the Vanilla Workshop. However, many people didn’t see the value in the Urban Racer. The debate was heated.

Well, now you can get an Urban Racer as part of Speedvagen’s Ready Made program, with a stock build and base pricing down to $3495. You might be inclined to say “that’s still a lot of money for a coaster brake city bike”. And it is. But for some, it might be just what they needed to get in the door on one of these stripped down beauties.

After the reaction that beautiful Speedvagen we posted a couple of weeks back received, the Vanilla Workshop decided to offer it as a build option for a limited time.
