Small businesses are the foundation of the outdoor industry and many have been seriously impacted by the pandemic over the last couple of months. While money is understandably tight for a significant portion of people, if you do have the means and are dreaming up your next bike trip or local ride, I wanted to offer up a few suggestions for gear that I believe is worthy of investing in from some of my favorite small businesses in the industry.

I’ve been wearing the short sleeve version of this shirt for a few weeks now and my only complaint is it wasn’t a long sleeve! I love long sleeve shirts for summer riding since the material wicks sweat and keeps the sun off my arms. Path Less Pedaled takes us on a deep dive into Swift Industries and asks the question I’ve personally heard numerous times: why are bike bags so expensive?

In the world of custom bags, it ain’t easy to create a unique style. At the end of the day, most bags will look very similar because they are designed to do a simple task. However, once in a while, we come across someone doing something unique. That’s what turned us on to Boge Works, a small maker out of Seattle. If there’s one thing that’s consistent across all my personal builds, it’s King Cage. I either have Wolf Tooth’s Morse cages or the original classics. Due to the pandemic, our “spring” launch might have to be a summer launch. We’ve had these two products for a few months now, waiting on new shirts, jerseys, and socks but it looks like it will be a few months until the rest of these items will be made so, in the interim, we just posted these to the shop. The first is a 22″ x 22″ bandana, featuring the Eternal Jackal logo, designed by our friends at LAND. It’s printed on grown in the USA organic cotton using eco-friendly orange discharge ink. That means you won’t actually be able to feel the ink. Once washed this bandana will be soft to the touch. These are made in the USA and printed by Industry Print Shop in Austin, Texas.

Next up is our Alpenglow bottles, inspired by the optical phenomenon that appears as a horizontal reddish glow near the horizon opposite to the Sun when it has just set beyond the horizon.
