A Day in 10 Photos: 07.31.2010

If you haven’t picked up on this yet, I’m on vacation. Even if it seems like I’m traveling a lot lately, it’s usually not a real vacation. You know the kind where you do nothing but sit on the beach, drink and eat. Even with the summer thunderstorms southeastern North Carolina is known for, the weather’s been fairly nice. That is until we decided to go fishing the other day. Even in the dog days of summer, the rain gets to people.

Check out more photos below.

The plan was to wake up early in the morning and go 30 miles out to fish for Black Bass.

We had everything set up and it started to rain.

Needless to say, we were bummed. My dad sat there staring out the garage door at the torrential downpour.

For as long as I can remember, he’s been fishing the coast of North Carolina. Our freezer is stuffed with more fish than a farmer’s market and if there’s one thing that we never had a shortage of growing up, it was fish.

Eventually the weather changed but it was too late to head out to fish so we took the boat into the Intercoastal Waterway.

I just love being out on the water and some things just never seem to change.

We anchored on an island, took the dog out and relaxed while we waited for all the day-boaters to clear the docks.

Once the sun set, the temperature dropped, so we lifted anchor and headed back.

With all the thunderstorms we’ve been getting, I haven’t put in nearly the amount of time I wanted to on the water. Let’s hope it clears up this week. I’m here until Thursday and already I’m itching to return to NYC. I took a few more photos, so head over to my Flickr to check them out.
