Register for the Cascadia Super G Today!

With the advent of Grinduro, a new format of dirt road races was born. Another event to adopt the part enduro and part “gravel” race is the Cascadia Super G. Taking place on February 4th, yes, it’s soon, in the Capital Forest of Olympia, Washington, the Super G takes place on a 56 mile loop on some of the most scenic roads in the area. Entry to the event is $65 and on-site camping is available. For more information, including registration, head to the Cascadia Super G website.

The Rock Lobster Cup Strikes Back

Usually the sequel doesn’t stack up to the original, yet the consensus I gathered at the Rock Lobster Cup II was that this year’s event was way harder and way more fun. Or maybe just way harder. Having only raced the sequel, I can’t say for sure, but having not raced ‘cross for two years, It was all I could have asked for and more.

The second Trans Cascadia race welcomed 100 primed racers to a blind format enduro race spanning 4 days in the rugged lands of cascadia. It kicked off with a meeting point in the Mackenzie River area where everyone was loaded onto buses with a bag, tent and bike in tow with no idea where they were going. The Trans Cascadia crew worked all season to open long time silent trails to keep even the locals on their toes. Each day hosted a full day of riding unknown trails while the night brought secluded parties only the racers will know.

If you’re looking for a wild experience next year, make sure to sign up when the 2017 registration opens because it tends to sell out in hours. Head to Trans Cascadia!

Soakin’ in Sierra Nevada at Giro’s Grinduro

Soakin’ in Sierra Nevada at Giro’s Grinduro

Has it really been a year already? A full year since Giro’s Grinduro debuted in Quincy, California. Grinduro is a 63 mile route through Sierra Nevada – you know, those rad mountains, not the beer – with four timed segments. There’s a fire road climb, a fire road descent, a road time trial and a ripping section of singletrack. The event takes place on Saturday, but many people make it a weekend endeavor. Mostly because if you’re going to drive all the way to Quincy, you might as well stay a while. It costs money to race, but all proceeds from the event go to support the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship. If it weren’t for their organization, or the volunteers, this event would have never taken off like it has.

Set in the Quincy Fairgrounds, the layout of the event stayed mostly the same. There were car camping spots, RV spots, a marketplace, food vendors and plenty of places to party.

11 years. 11 years we’ve been doing this.

Every Summer, for one glorious bike party weekend we own these streets, we own this fucking town. The All City Championships were the first major non messenger-organized alleycat in the city of MPLS. It proved that anyone with a little hardwork and determination could make a major impact on their community, do something good, give something back. It inspired others to start their own races, it helped inspire me to found a bicycle company, it brought old friends together and has facilitated making many new ones around the globe.
