Map Cycles and Steelman: S&P Randonneur Project

When Mitch from Map Cycles first told me about this project, I was beyond stoked. So many people want to pick up a classy, made in the USA touring bike but can’t completely break the bank. Not saying this project will be cheap by any means, but it’s a pretty good deal. Here’s the deal from Map:

“Collaboration between Steelman Cycles and myself (Steelman & Pryor, hence S&P). Frame, fork, racks and wet paint from $3000. Stock sized, custom fit and finish. We have a 53, 55, and 57 cm left in our first batch and more to come soon.”

Map Cycles

Reportage

Map Cycles

Mitch from Map Cycles has moved to Chico, California from Portland and I managed to sneak into his shop for some quick lens love before shooting that gorgeous Disk-Ville Porteur. I’ll be real honest here. I wasn’t even going to post these photos. I didn’t have a lot of time to shoot and most of the shop was packed up already. But I really like how short and sweet this set is.

Reportage

Map Porteur 650b Disk-ville City Bike

Mitch from Map Cycles recently began relocating his studio from Portland to Chico, California. And if there’s one bike that solidifies his long-time stay in Portland, I feel like it’s this porteur 650b Disk-ville city bike. Seen first in my 2012 NAHBS coverage, in a raw state, a new coat of black paint, along with the French fenders, makes this baby look like something out of a prohibition-era gangster fleet. Something just says cruise… cruise and “buy me“.
