A Day in 10 Photos: 05.05.2012

Yesterday was the quintessential Texas Saturday. We rolled out of the house mid-day after the temperature was in the upper 90’s and headed to 5 Hip. Tony Fast is in town to escape Santa Barbara and ride a bit. Puckett was blasting the new quarter with an inverted table and AJ was working on a flyout bar. Once the afternoon heat and haze crippled us, we headed to a secluded swimming hole.

On the descent down into the Greenbelt, Eric flew over the bars on his brakeless BMX and wrecked himself but it was nothing the cool water couldn’t heal.

Hold Fast O.X. 29’r 26″ and 24″ Framesets Available Now

The Hold Fast O.X. frames are now available. OX Platinum, made in the USA and rider tested. These are looking DAMN good.

More details:

“We’re proud to introduce to you our latest, the Hold Fast O.X. Frame Series. They’ve been described by our test riders as the kind of bike that is so responsive, “all you have to do is think it, and the bike does the rest”. While we can’t make that claim ourselves (thanks a lot, Colin), our goal was simply to create an aggressive and highly responsive frame with a dialed-in geometry that encourages intuitive freestyle riding.”

This breaks down into three frames: The Converter 29’r, the Subverter 26″ and the Agitator 24″.

Pick these up now, because they won’t last!

Shane put together a quick edit from the sessions that went down at the Island in SF. Man, FGFS has come a long way since people started doing leg over bar skids at this spot.

Introducing Zen Grips

From my SF Randomness set

Photo by Matt Lingo for Zen Grips

I met Kit this weekend in SF for the #RideNStyle fixed gear madness that engulfed the city. He’s from SoCal and came up to promote his new company, Zen Grips and race at the event. Made by ODI, these grips are fabricated in the USA and feature a unique compound and grip pattern. Kit was riding them on his track bike and his FGFS team has been repping them hard for the past few months.

Head over to Zen Grips to check out more and don’t miss that Matt Lingo-shot set with Congo and Joe.

Matt Spencer’s SKYLMT

Reportage

Matt Spencer’s SKYLMT

I have to admit, I was a little sad when I heard that Matt Spencer was going to be riding 26″ wheels. Note that I said “a little” because it really doesn’t matter and smaller wheels will only enable Matt to ride harder and bigger than ever. When he announced he was leaving Volume, I knew he was going to be riding for SKYLMT. These frames are incredible. They’re light and made in the USA.

Matt’s SKYLMT weighs in at 25 lbs complete, as shown here and he’s already thrashing on it. While we were at the Island, I took it out for some lens love. It’s almost impossible to shoot a bike in SF without having a MUNI bus lurking in the background.

SF #RideNStyle Weekend Randomness 03

SF #RideNStyle Weekend Randomness 03

It’s the last day before the #RideNStyle competition here in SF. I rolled out the the #fixiefamous crowd from the Mission, out to the Embarcadero to see the course and bumped into all the fixed freestyle guys. The following set is all over the place but there are some gems in there!
