Interviewed: Christopher and Graeme Raeburn on their 2013 Rapha Collection

With the success of the Rapha Raeburn line earlier this year, my friends at the Rapha North America office reached out to me for a different kind of press. I was very impressed with what the first Raeburn line accomplished: high end, performance cycling wear, manufactured in the UK and developed by one of the UK’s most renown fashion designers, Christopher Raeburn.

Check out my interview with Christopher and his brother Graeme Raeburn for Rapha below!

Danner Boots Fall 2013 with Jordan and James

If you’ve been paying attention to West America, you would have seen that Jordan Hufnagel has sold all of his frame building tools and is heading to Patagonia with James Crowe, his shop mate. Before they leave, however, they’re finishing up some projects with US manufacturers. One of those companies is Danner Boots. Here’s a video lookbook the guys helped put together.

All I have to say is: rope swing.

I Shot Some Photos for Benny Gold’s Guerrero Collection Look Book

Benny Gold and I have gotten to know each other over the years through various outlets, one of which being the track bike scene in SF. Back in the mid-2000’s Benny was designing logos for numerous bike shops and brands, including Mash and City Grounds. Since then, he’s been focusing almost exclusively on his brand. Each season, look books are essential in a brand’s marketing and while I was in SF, he wanted me to shoot some photos. I don’t really do lookbooks, so it was something different from my day to day shooting style.

These are some photos from the Guerrero Collection Look Book, see more at Benny Gold and check out the Guerrero Collection line here.

Outlier for Women

For over 8 months now, Lauren has been loving her Outlier women’s shorts and I wish I had taken more photos of them while shooting her Icarus because they fit her like a glove! Here’s the scoop on the full Outlier women’s line:

“Why should better clothing just be made for the boys? It’s taken far too long, but we’ve been working extensively on our women’s clothing and we’ve finally got some more good stuff for you. We started by taking some of our favorite garments and rebuilt them from the ground up for women’s bodies using the same great fabrics found in our menswear, of course. So here’s four for the ladies; four new garments that we hope you’ll consider future classics.”

Northside Wheelers

Reportage

Northside Wheelers

When FYXO moved out of the “hub”, Northside Wheelers moved in. Now nestled behind Shifter Bikes, Mal’s shop has expanded to almost three times the size of the old shop. He’s still stocking a lot of the same brands and even some new ones. In a shop like this, you spend a lot of time asking yourself “what’s for sale and what’s for show?” but that’s part of the charm. Check out some more selects in the Gallery!

Berkeley Supply Co

Reportage

Berkeley Supply Co

Nestled in between Pearl Velo and Avery County Cycles is Berkeley Supply Co. Having opened last December, Eli has focused entirely on made in the USA clothing and accessories. For someone like me, who usually buys clothing when I travel (not a whole lot of options in Austin believe it or not), I was very impressed with the shop and environment Eli has created. Many of the brands he carries I’ve been wearing for the past few years and have had the best of luck with them. A lot of these clothes are what I would consider an investment, as Berkeley Supply Co’s slogan states “outfitter of things that last”.

Check out some photos in the Gallery. Find shop hours and info below.

Chrome Introduces the STORM 415 Fabric and Cordura Footwear

Today, Chrome launched the 415 Urban Work Boot and the STORM 415 Urban Work Boot. These aren’t your normal sneakers. Think of them as mobility work boots: all the stability of a boot with the comfort of a sneaker. The STORM 415 is made from waterproof cordura (pictured) and the 415 Urban is fabric. I like the look of these boots and there’s more information below, including the official PR from Chrome.
