Off-road machines like this are so smart and having been a long fan of Ocean Air Bicycles, I was anxious to see how Blue Lug in Japan’s first Rambler build would turn out. So far, so good! Built using Phil Wood, White Industries and a SON generator system, this all-road vehicle is ready for anything. See more at the Blue Lug Flickr.
Nitto’s newest offerings are now in stock at Blue Lug in Japan. The MCR65 Stem and RM-3 Dirt Drop are for 1 1/8″ bikes looking to be run with a high position dirt drop but in a classic design. These new shapes are available in black or silver and as evident in the photo above, add a different feel to a bike like the Surly Crosscheck.

There have been a lot of awesome cross bikes in town and I’ve tried my best to document them when I could, which unfortunately hasn’t been that often. This one, however was a must!
Nobuhiko Tanabe’s internet handle is NB_Log. He’s an employee at Blue Lug in Japan, races for Geekhouse and in general, is stoked out on bikes. His 2014 team Mudville cross bike has one of my favorite color combinations to ever leave the Boston framebuilder’s shop.
NB found himself in Austin for the 2015 ‘Cross Nats, going to the parties, races and events of this past week’s schedule, as well as pedaling around a few of our local trail systems.

If there was an award each year for the best customized shop bikes, Blue Lug would win it. From Surly to Fairweather and now Rew10 Works, their shop bikes are so beautiful. Check out this blue Mondrian SSCX bike, complete with that disc front and canti rear setup… While we’re at it, check out these photos on the Blue Lug blog from what appears to be a Sim Works bike show / store opening of sorts.
I’ve been digging what Blue Lug has been doing with their Rew10 Works framesets and Cook paintworks, but this singlespeed cross bike is my favorite thus far. Subtle splatter paint over the tan base color and a classy steel fork really do it for me. The disc front and canti rear is clever as well.

The Fairweather tires are incredible. Why? Because they’re made by Panaracer in Japan, in a selection of colors and we all know Panaracer is legit. Up until now, you couldn’t buy them Stateside, so head over to Velo Orange to see their new stock!

Blue Lug received a few custom ILE MOLLE Rucksacks in recently and took some products shots of the bags over on their Flickr. I don’t think even ILE has these bags in stock!
One of my favorite shops, Blue Lug from Tokyo, visited one of my favorite US-made component companies, Paul, right after NAHBS. I’ve yet to spend time in Chico with the crew from Paul, but these photos make me feel like I was there. Thanks Blue Lug!
