Chater-Lea Road Clearer Bicycle Whistle

We all love our Spurcycle bells but wayyyy back when, cyclists used to ride with whistles to clear the road. J Hudson & Co. have been making specialist whistles in England for over 150 years. The ACME siren began life as the ‘Cyclists Road Clearer’ in the 1880s.

Chater-Lea is delighted to have joined forces with J Hudson & Co. to create the ‘Chater-Lea Road Clearer’ for £39.00.

This unique whistle combines the peerless ACME siren with a beautifully machined solid brass case designed and manufactured by Chater-Lea here in the UK. The brass case directs the sound and adds character as a unique patina develops over the years!

If you love throwbacks and are looking for an interesting holiday gift for a loved one, then be sure to consider this! See more (including an audio file) at Chater-Lea.

Spurcycle Announces Compact Bell at a Compact Price

If you have a MTB with a crowded cockpit but really want to ride with a bell then check out the new Spurcycle Compact Bell, designed specifically to fit on your bars next to your brake levers, shifter pods, or dropper lever. While the OG Spurcycle bells have a clamp width of 22mm, these new compact bells come in with a 9mm clamp footprint, fitting on even the most crowded bars.

These bells are made in Taiwan, so the price is cheaper than the OG MUSA bell, coming in at $39. Check out more at Spurcycle.

Give Your Spurcycle Bell a Boost with the Belltower

If you’ve ever used a Spurcycle bell on a MTB, then you know how difficult it can be to properly locate it between you grips, brakes, dropper and shifter modules. The Belltower alleviates that. Acting like a spacer lift, the Belltower puts the Spurcycle bell a bit higher up… They’re $6.95, made in the USA and in stock now at Lindarets.

I Finally Received My Spurcycle Made in the USA Bicycle Bell

Yesterday I received my Spurcycle bell in the mail and immediately installed it on my Geekhouse Woodville. With all the madness of SxSW enveloping Austin, it couldn’t have come at a better time.

The packaging is well thought out, the bell is simple, all metal (save for some rubber bushings) and the black finish almost disappears on a my handlebars. I know a bell might not seem like that big of a deal, but I am stoked on how great they look.

Now I just need to put one on the MTB…

They’re in the process of shipping all their (10,000) Kickstarter backers at the moment, but there is a pre-order going on now with a spring ship estimate. Head over to Spurcycle now to reserve one!
