Cardiel x Chrome: Sacramento to Chico
Here’s the latest from Cards and Chrome:
“On a summer day, Chrome Familia member John Cardiel and a couple of friends rode from his home in Sacramento 100 miles north to the Chrome Bag factory in Chico, CA. The intent was to see his new Fortnight travel bag being made. It just so happened that the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is two blocks away from the Chrome bags factory. Here is what ensued.”

In the Cutts: Cardiel Teaser
Cardiel Episode 6 teaser from InThe Cutts on Vimeo.
Cards! I gotta say, he’s one of those skaters we all looked up to and his embracing of track bikes is rad as hell. I loved his Epicly Later’d series and his part in Macaframa. In the Cutts has the following to say about his newest web-edit with John Cardiel:
This is kinda a big deal. In the last week of January 2010 In The Cutts will drop it’s John Cardiel episode. John is such an inspiration to all of us and to hang out and film John for a couple days has been a great gift for us to jump 2010 off. We can’t wait to share this gift with the world so we’ve posted a little teaser giving you a pinch of what the episode has in store.
Rad!

Official Park Rangers
Nice one, Cardiel!
“This past spring Official was honored to participate in one of John Cardiel’s long time aspirations of riding bikes from our homes in Sacramento, CA to Yosemite National Forest (around 180 miles in 3 days). The bike tour was inspired by John’s childhood trips to Yosemite with his father and his ever inspirational need to challenge and push himself. Official Park Ragers is a fun play on the original Yosemite Rangers, birthed completely by John and as a way to commemorate the epic three days of riding and camping with our bros and also to poke a little fun at the time honored rangers. This collection celebrates everything that is classic, perseverant and awesome about John Cardiel and we couldn’t be prouder to have gone on a small piece of the journey with him.”

A Day in 10 Photos: 04.01.2011
Today I pulled a prank on my readers. Not only did I fib about my bike getting stolen, but I carried a cynical tone in all my posts. While it’s true that Macaframa uses a lot of time-lapse, I still thoroughly enjoy their videos. Did you see JSN get thrown out of the party at the end? Good stuff. I’m also super pumped for Cardiel. His online shop looks pretty bad ass and of course I still get worked up over sexy track frames. NJS or not. Go support Cardiel and Break Free Customs. Milltag‘s jerseys are awesome. Some of my favorites in the industry and these new ones are a great way to show your GB pride.
Come on now, of course the Rapha rope is a joke. But I’m glad some of you guys picked up on the awesome copy they created to promote it. And I wish I had a spare Hasselblad lens. Don’t worry, there are more legit Reader’s Rides coming up.
Yes, my Merckx is fine and yes, it was a mean prank but thanks to everyone who came to my assistance and posted about it. Hey, at least it wasn’t as cruel as last year’s 26″ fixed prank I pulled!

Chrome: A New York Minute in the New Yalta
To promote their new roll-top backpack the Yalta, Chrome followed around Cardiel and Igei as they cruised through Manhattan and into Brooklyn. What better way to end a casual day of riding than with a beer in Prospect Park?

A Day in 10 Photos: 08.15.2010
Since I no longer work in the city and my daily interaction with the avenues and cross-streets are usually confined to returning from Central Park laps, I rarely go over the bridge to hang out. With the weather cooling down, I decided to make the Sunday trek across the bridge and see some friends. First up was Rapha’s Cycling Club for a coffee and to shoot Cassidy‘s tattoo. Pretty good right?
