Brooks C17 and C17s Cambium Saddles

The newest saddle from Brooks should be in stock now at your local bike shop. The C17 (mens) and C17s (womens) Cambium is vegan-friendly and one of the slickest designed saddles I’ve seen. Not pictured is the darker colored version, which can be seen here. Head over to your local Brooks dealer to pick one up and see more information at Brooks England.

Charge Steps Up Their Saddle Offerings with the Scoop

I’ve held one in my hands and it looked great. That’s the extent of my experience with the new Charge Scoop saddles. For me, I felt like it was a modern spin on my favorite saddle, the 70’s era Unicanitor. Why? The Scoop uses a highly-flexible, one-piece shell with a light foam top, covered a durable and waterproof cover, resting on either steel or titanium rails. Oh and colors. Plenty of colors. Merckx Mondays

Well, my Memorial Day has wound down and as I get back to the swing of the work week, I thought I’d kick it off with a nice Merckx Mondays from Fyxomatosis. Well, technically, this one’s from Patebury, an Aussie leather shop. Rather than track down another NOS Sella Italia RS saddle for an Eddy Merckx Professional that Andy’s building, he contacted Patebury to see how close they could come to making one… it looks damn nice!

Product Review: Fizik Antares VS Saddle

Product Review: Fizik Antares VS Saddle

Let me preface this review by saying I’ve never felt the need to own a saddle with a relief channel. I always find that proper saddle position and bicycle fit will keep your body happy, even in the most sensitive areas. That said, I completely understand that not everyone’s body is the same. Much like having a proper frame fit, saddle fit* is one of the key deciding factors in an enjoyable ride.

My normal saddle of choice is the fi’zi:k Kurve but I’ve found that without a chamois, they can be a bit harsh so when I began to use my cross bike as an around the town bike, I wanted something with a little more padding. That’s when numerous people turned me onto the fi’zi:k Antares VS. I rode one on Ty’s Hufnagel up to Mt. Disappointment while in LA last summer and was sold immediately. Since then, I picked one up and have been in love ever since.

Brooks B17 Select World Traveller 2012 Limited Edition Saddle

This just in from Brooks:

“Brooks England is pleased to announce the release of the Brooks B17 Select World Traveller 2012 Limited Edition Saddle. This saddle celebrates our deep historical associations with the sporting heroes of the previous London Olympiad, as well as our rich relationship with devotees of Long Distance Touring, during the inaugural WCR Grand Tour (www.worldcycleracing.com), a competitive circumnavigation of the Earth by bicycle.

The leather surface features a restyling of a piece by Frank Patterson, artist and illustrator of the Brooks catalogues of the 1920’s, realized by Richard Phipps.  All saddles have been made using Brooks Select organic leather tops, fixed to a chromed copper steel frame and finished with hand hammered copper rivets.

The B17 Select World Traveller is available at chosen Brooks Dealers Of Excellence from May, and production of the Brooks B17 Select World Traveller has been capped at 2012 pieces.”
