Sorry for the lack of updates this weekend. Tracko’s been in town and all we’ve been doing is riding and partying. Hey, it was the weekend, right? He heads back to Cali tomorrow and regular posting will commence.

This is by no means a recent photograph. It’s from a ride I did in California with the Giro New Road team. Highway 128 snakes its way through the Navarro River Redwoods State Park and when the road aligns with the setting sun, you get these great slivers of light coming through the trees.
It’s been too long since I’ve been in California. After two months, I’m jonesin’.
No trip to Los Angeles is complete without at least one night ride with the Golden Saddle Cyclery guys. During my last visit, Dave, Kyle, Ty, Ace, Jeff from All City and I went out on a Griffith ride, through the hills and up to the Hollywood sign for some beverages. At that point in the trip, we were all toast, especially Jeff, who had just come off a 24 hour flu. At least he got some more photos to use for the #partybrand that is All-City…
As “hoody hooooo” echoed through the night, we rolled home along the bike path.
We’ve had cool mornings here in Austin and the low-lying fog has been an eerie companion on rides. It totally changes the arid landscape. I hope everyone is finding the time to get in base miles.
I love it when projects like this pop up and everyone involved are damn talented individuals. Introducing Yonder Journal, a project by Daniel Wakefield Pasley and Emiliano Granado. Without saying too much more, here’s the first installment of Yonder Journal: Brovet 01, Old Ridge Road Permanent.

The more I read about the Almanzo 100, the more I really want to ride in it (fuck it, we’re doing the Royal 162). I’ll be sending out my information this week and I suggest you do the same. Jeff Frane, Kyle and Ty, I’m looking at you!

This time of year, most of the country faces snow, cold temps and rain, so riding time diminishes. Here’s to those who enjoyed the road (or dirt) this weekend, regardless of the weather.
2012 brought a lot of videos to the table here at PiNP. I had to scroll through 60 pages of fixed freestyle, track bike, cyclocross, BMX videos and everything in between to compile this list. Unlike previous years, these videos were chosen based on my own personal impact. I didn’t look at the number of comments, or hits, they just stood out from the rest and were, at least in my opinion, very influential. From frame builders, to FGFS and good old fashioned mashing on track bikes, these were my top picks for 2012.

When cycling gets coverage in major media outlets, we’re used to see pieces on reckless riding or a death. Not this time. The LA Times has a great feature on Wolfpack Hustle up on their site and if reading ain’t you’re thing, there’s even a video. Check it out here.
I wanted to do something special this year for the holiday blog post, like some kick-ass graphic or a goofy photo but I kept coming back to this photo I shot while on a ride with Josh back in Austin. Mostly because I can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing right now than riding my bike with my friends.
Hopefully everyone gets in friend, family and saddle time.

Faz was in Brisbane, Australia for nearly a month visiting family and friends. While there, he put together a video showcasing some of the rad rides he took part of!
We just rode part of this and expect a lot of muddy, hellish fun!

For some reason, a group of us decided to try out this ride. A “brovet” if you will. Doing 120 miles is easy, doing over 350 in one swoop is a little more difficult. Doing it in the wake of a Hurricane, over the Appalachian mountains is, as we found, even more difficult. I unfortunately didn’t plan on Sandy and showed up to Pittsburgh with arm warmers, leg warmers, shoe covers and wind-proof gloves. Bad times! But it doesn’t have to be fun to be fun, right?
