Last year, at NAHBS, I met Jeremy and Neil from Cedar Cycling, a new cycling wear brand. Using high-end New Zealand merino wool and local manufacturing, I knew Cedar was really doing something genuine and legit. Over a bottle of bourbon, we discussed working on a jersey. But since they had barely just launched their brand, we knew it would be some time before we’d have samples.
Earlier in the summer, I met up with them in SF to look at fabrics and discuss the jersey in detail. Then, just last week, I finally got my hands on one. I was really, really impressed. This is one of the nicest jerseys I’ve ever owned. We worked really hard getting everything right, especially the fit. It’s form-fitting, without being race cut. The sleeves sit just right and the front lies flat on your chest.
One of my biggest qualms with a lot of jerseys that I own is the pocket room. Especially during the winter. You end up stuffing arm warmers, a gillet and gloves into your pockets on the daily. These jerseys have both pocket room and ample reinforced stitching to help maintain its intended shape. It fits great and is incredibly comfortable. What I’m trying to say is, this is far from just a new “colorway”…
I just signed off on the production sample and the full run is currently being made by hand in Oakland, California. Expect a delivery mid-January and we’ll be running a discounted pre-order after the new year. For now, here’s a few of the details.
When Kyle first made his Save the Track Bike! buttons for the 2010 NAHBS, I doubt he thought it’d take off like it has. For 2013, he’s working on a few STTB products and while I was in LA, I took a few photos of them. The kit looks great and the musette ain’t too shabby either. More info to come…

This in from G+D:
WHAT HAPPENED?
Our neigborhood of Red Hook, Brooklyn has been left flooded and in shambles following Hurricane Sandy. Countless homes, shops, artist studios, restaurants, bars, and workshops have been devastated. Despite this recent hardship, the heart of this vibrant community cannot be washed away. While our own storefront office flooded, the losses are minimal compared to the dire situation in the neighborhood.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Castelli Cycling has generously stepped up to produce a pair of special benefit jerseys with us to help raise funds for Red Hook’s recovery. Designed by Jonah Birns, the jerseys will bepre-sold exclusively on Gage+DeSoto until December 1st. After production is complete, we will be shipping these in mid-January.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
All profits from these jerseys will be split between the Red Hook Initiative (RHI) and Restore Red Hook (RRH). The RHI–an established community center–is operating as the critical organizer of relief efforts. Since then, Restore Red Hook has also been set up to help the many devastated small businesses of Red Hook reopen their doors as soon as possible.

After their black S1-A riding jersey was such a hit, the guys at Search and State branched out into another tone: grey. These high-tech, lightweight jerseys are well worth their price tag. Up until it got super hot here in Texas, I was wearing mine every day. This new lighter tone should allow for year-round riding, even in the hottest of climates. These are the only cycling jerseys made by skilled hands in NYC. Check out my product review of the S1-A jersey here.
Check out more photos below and scoop one up here at S&S for $125.
Adam from Stanridge Speed just opened up shop over at his site. You can order everything from a complete bike, to stickers and even the new 2012 Fall kit. These came out great. Perfect for Fall / Winter. Head over and check it out.
What a great jerseys and what a great back-story from the Tenspeed Hero team:
“When Jonathan Hero was a young lad in California he listened to Reggae + Dancehall + Dub as much as he watched bike races, which was ALL THE TIME! Saving up some dough he trotted off to Jamaica to attend Reggae Sunsplash. Though his stories of this trip are worth a post on its own, the one thing all the Heroes borrow from his solo journey to Jamaica was the expression “Soon Come, Soon Come.”
We ordered this jersey a bit late in the season but we were still hoping for an early May delivery. Well early May has turned to the late days of June. Around Hero Headquarters when someone asks about its arrival we just try to relax like we are in Montego bay and quietly say “Soon Come, Soon Come.” Well it is here and we are so excited! News for you, we are contacting people on the reserve list and are shipping jerseys. We also managed to get Nalini to print an extra 20 Jerseys for the store. So far, report from several Heroes is that the fit is pretty close to Rapha (high praise indeed!).”
