A Night I Barely Remember in SF
Photos by JSN M
I don’t remember much of this night. It was mere hours after the RideNStyle event and I was beat from shooting photos all day. I met up with some friends, who then moved a car onto the sidewalk and later, Colby, Newman and my boy Zach went to Delirium. When the bar got douchey we went back onto the sidewalk where I drank a fifth of Makers.
Around that time is when JSN and Dylan said they were going to the park, so I followed. I was pretty wasted and supposedly, I pissed all over Crihs’ bike. Hey, it’s a Sweathogs thing. But I didn’t just do it once, I did it 3 times.
So I guess this is where Crihs gets really pissed and begins to plan his revenge. And yes, when he avenges his bike, I’ll post about that too.

Grillin’ Out at Mission Workshop
Friday night before our street session, the crew hung out at Mission Workshop for a BBQ. I was exhausted from riding around the entire city that day so a whiskey ginger and some burgers hit the spot! The Cali kids were in town, along with the Japan riders. Everyone was stoked to be hanging out with each other!

Red Bull Ride + Style Event in SF
Aaron at Red Bull hit me up the beginning of this month to chat about the forthcoming Red Bull Ride + Style in SF at the end of April. This event seems like it’s going to be proper, embracing the fast bike and the freestyle bike (hopefully some will be riding both!). Check out the official press-release:
The event will be held on April 30th, 2011 in San Francisco, California in the iconic Justin Herman Plaza from 11am-4pm. We are inviting top riders from around the world to compete. The winner in each of the 2 categories will be awarded $1,000.
The two competition disciplines that make up Red Bull Ride + Style are:
Track race:
For the fastest fixed gear racers, a course will pit two racers at a time against each other, with an elimination-style race to determine the fastest fixed gear racer.
Freestyle:
For the freestyle riders, we will have a course of five unique obstacle features, and riders will be judged for their tricks and style by members of the fixed gear industry.
In addition to the fixed gear element of the event, we will be working with San Francisco’s top street artists to add elements and imagery to the course.
Check out the riders list below!

Condition NYC: 35mm Monster XII Track Photos

Dave Trimble: Monster Track XII Photos
Man, I feel like this year there were more photographers at Monster Track than before. I know Tak and Ed Glazar had to be there (we’ll probably see those later on) and Cycle Angelo‘s are looking good but I’m really into the ones that Red Hook Crit organizer David Trimble took. Look at JT wearing blue sweatpants just so he could match his Legor Cicli track bike.
JT, what happened man? I hear Crihs had a 12-minute spread. Did you stop for a cup of coffee?
Check out all of Dave’s photos here.

Cycle Angelo caught some great photos at the Monster Track XII finish. Check out the first round of photos on his Flickr. Crihs, that’s one PRO build for an alleycat. Did Affinity donate that HED3?
Congrats to Crihs and JT for running shit up there in NYC. Good looks guys!

Asphalt CPH: Jumbo – The Fastest Cat in Town
What can I say? I’m a sucker for Sabbath! Check out more here info here. Jumbo, for those who don’t know is literally the fastest messenger in Copenhagen. There are rumors of him sitting in his basement all winter on the rollers engulfing canisters of protein shakes. He got second place at Monster Track 2009 after he and Crihs battled it out.

Event Recap: 2011 Four Horsemen II Alleycat NYC
Today was a freaking blast! I love riding in NYC on a track bike. There are few rushes like it. After waking up and taking care of errands, I met up with Tony Fast downtown. We rode up to 110th and 5th to the start of the Four Horsemen alleycat. If you recall, the original Four Horsemen had a camera on four racers. This year’s return of the Four Horsemen was the same idea but instead of bombing Broadway, they picked 5th ave on a sunny Saturday. I.e. a clusterfuck!
Check out a ton of photos below!

Thoughts on Empire?
In case you missed this, last night Empire screened in SF, the city that started the fixed gear and track bike movie movement and with Luke and Crihs heading out for the SF BFF, the guys were super anxious to see the crowd’s response. So I wanna take a moment and pool from some of you who saw it.
What’d you think? Who’s part was your favorite? Did it make you want to ride?

Empire: SF and Athens BFF Premieres
Empire‘s got a new trailer out for the forthcoming Bicycle Film Festival in SF and Athens. Here’s what Crihs and Luke have to say about it:
“It’s hard to overstate how happy we are to be screening Empire in San Francisco. The bar set by Mash and Macaframa is high. If you’re in the Bay, come see how we did.”
The guys will be in SF, so make sure you say hi and buy them beer.

A Day in 10 Photos: 10.12.2010
After my morning ride today, I swung through East River Tattoo to drop off a drawing to Lyam Sparkes, who’s in town for a few weeks tattooing. When I rolled up to the shop, I saw Duke outside working on a mural.
Check out nine more photos below, including a sneak peek at my visit to Horse Cycles.

BFF 2010 10th Anniversary Alleycat
Crihs ( @crihsshic ) shot some GoPro footage of the Bicycle Film Festival alleycat entitled a Race Against Time. The race took riders all over NYC. On highways and over bridges. Lucas Brunelle was present, as were out of towners. Great footage. I love seeing people skitch during races.
