Everyone always asks why I have such a big chainring on my Merckx Pista. The answer is pretty simple, it’s hard to find a 49t for Campy’s 151bcd track cranks. These pre-date the 144bcd cranks and while they are by no means “period correct” for my Stuttgart, I love the proportions of a large ring to large cog on such a big bike. I really should clean these babies up and no, that’s not a crack, just a grease mark.
