Tout Terrain’s All New Outback Xplore II Touring Bike

Tout Terrain’s bombproof adventure touring bike, the Outback Xplore II model includes two new chassis configurations, improved tire clearance, and a new geometry, all running off the Pinion gearbox system and Gates belt drive. Let’s check it out.

Available in both 29″ and 27.5″ configurations, the first key update for the new Outback Xplore II concerns clearance-with space for up 2.6″ or 3.0″ tires on each model, respectively. Next, the team turned their attention to the frame, adapting the geometry to provide greater control when riding both loaded and unencumbered over loose, technical terrain.

The Geometry features a 74º seat angle and a 68º head angle, 462 mm chain stays for increased heel clearance when using racks and panniers, a longer wheelbase, and 65mm of bottom bracket drop.

For greater durability, the Stratocrom steel tubes that make up the frame now undergo a special internal rust-proof coating process. The addition of two threaded bosses on the top tube and three on the down tube provide increased bag mounting options. Lastly, the Outback ll’s new forged thru-axle dropouts simplify wheel mounting.

As with the previous Outback Xplore, this latest version leverages the low-maintenance, smooth-shifting performance of a Pinion gearbox and Gates Carbon Drive belt system-available in full custom or as one of two preconfigured “Select” models.

  • Stratocrom steel frame with ED black coating
