In Stock: Jeff Hantman’s Bike Part Alphabet Screen Printed Posters

Cycling-related art prints are always fun and to help support the cycling community here in Santa Fe, we reached out to our friend Jeff Hantman to see if he’d be willing to let us sell some of his “Bike Part Alphabet” art prints in our webshop. These prints are for the vintage aficionados, dirt freaks, parts bin pickers, and co-op combers, with lots of cycling ephemera represented by each of the letters of the alphabet.

Here’s what Jeff has to say about these prints:

I started drawing the artwork for “Bike Part Alphabet” in March of 2020. The idea for the print was to represent each letter of the alphabet with a bike part.

I started riding mountain bikes in the early ’90s and wanted to include as many parts from those early days. My approach was to avoid using brands; however, there were a few letters that were challenging so I got creative with my own rule.

This is an open edition, 3 color silkscreen, printed on 19”x 25” 100# acid-free French Paper with Green Galaxy water-based inks.

These prints are in stock now at the Radavist webshop for $100 plus shipping to the United States only please!

Here’s to Failings and Revenge: Riding the N230 Route in Portugal

Here’s to failings and revenge, wet feet, cold meals, big appetites, and desperate measures, here is to the losers, to giving up, the fear and the panic, here is to the hopes and resets, the rest and restart, the loneliness and misery, the conquering or coming back, here is to the revenge, the salute, the lost goal, the drive and emptiness, the stomach and the guts, the brain, and the balls, here is to the brave heart and lost souls. Here is to the step back and rebound. Here is to the cold beers at the end and the diners that taste better.
Coming home was the hardest part.

The Dynaplug® Carbon Road Racer

Optimized for tires from 700 x 23-32, Dynaplug’s new proprietary “road” length insertion tubes allow easy plugging without the need to navigate knobs or extra volume from bigger rubber. Along with Road insertion tubes, today Dynaplug also announces the launch of Road plugs – substantially shorter than standard plugs. The smaller size means the excess plug will not rub against the frame or fork on tighter clearances Road or All Road frames.

The Dynaplug® Carbon Road Racer is the lightest tire plugging tool in the world at 14 grams, making it an ideal companion for weight-conscious road cyclists. With its small form factor, it can be neatly stowed on your bike (with included mount), saddlebag, or jersey pocket. For those that salivate at the sight of compact, well-made US components, the Dynaplug® Carbon Road Racer Kit is now optimized with Road length insertion tubes scaled for Road tires and compatible with both shorter Road and standard soft tips repair plugs.

Specialized Aethos Review: Shining a Light on Road Riding w/the Aethos Disc Road Bike

Road bikes. We don’t really talk about them so much over here at the Radavist – anymore. There was a time however where we’d post galleries from road adventures and still to this day, one of my favorite rides I did in California was on all pavement. Still, there have been a few defining reasons for the wane of the road bike’s popularity and it wasn’t until I accepted the offer to review the lightweight Aethos road bike that I began to mull over these reasons. A 16lb road bike is both terrifying (am I going to break this thing?!) and a joy (WOW! this is incredible) to ride but what does the state of road cycling look for me, personally, and how did this review shape my perspective of drop bars after a long hiatus from enjoying the pleasures of road riding? Read on to find out.

Alchemy’s Atlas All Road Bike Gets More Customized Options

Custom bikes mean fully-custom to Alchemy. That means layup, geometry, and frame material. The brand recently overhauled their US-made Atlas all road bike to include both titanium and a carbon model (pictured). The Atlas is Alchemy’s modular road model meaning Alchemy can swap out chainstays and a fork to design and fabricate either a classic Atlas road (28mm clearance) or a larger, all-road model (38mm clearance) and that’s just the beginning. The Race is In My Head

Kent Seki sent over this fun video project:

Anyone that has ever played a sport imagines themselves participating in some kind of championship event with the commentator announcing the play-by-play of their exploits. Whether it’s the game-winning shot, pass, sprint, hit, or play, the visualization of yourself doing these things is a natural phenomenon in sports. For cyclists, that takes the form of the play being called by Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen. Liggett is considered “The Dean” of professional cycling commentary, and he brought Paul on as his partner in 1986.

As a young cyclist, I would imagine Phil Liggett making the call as I crested the famous climbs in the Tour de France, doing my best impression of Greg Lemond while riding the local hills. Of course, I was, and still am, a slow cyclist, but that did not stop his voice from echoing inside my head. In those early days, Paul wasn’t part of the US coverage of the Tour, but by the time Lance Armstrong started winning, he was there.

I created this short video of me climbing Old La Honda juxtaposed to their commentary as a tribute to the late Paul Sherwen who passed away unexpectedly in 2018 at the age of 62, and as an example of what probably goes through every cyclist’s head while training.
