We’ve all been commuters on bikes through shit weather and this video reflects on that. Personally, I always preferred the fixed freestyle bike for the slush and snow of NYC. It was my commuter for all the years I lived there and there’s no better control than a fixed gear with a big, fat tire.

I’ve been a bit thin-blooded these past few months, I almost miss cold weather….

We’ve been having a ton of rain here in Austin for the past week, which has me focusing a lot on the various puddles. It’s not often that we get rain like this. Riding a bike can be a drag when it’s pouring but oftentimes, when you embrace it, you can have fun. Which brings me to one of my favorite photos by Brenton Salo. I don’t think I’ve seen a better skid photo than this one in years and it’s from 2009.

I love taking shots like this. They always provide much more information than a full body photo and on a track bike, you can feel the momentum. Dylan had some lens time with Chas (the winner of 2012 Monster Track), resulting in two great photos. Check the other one out at Full Frame Collective.

“In the summer of 2011, a few film students and bike lovers decided to make a documentary movie. The original idea came from Levi, a Hungarian film student, who went to Madrid for 5 months to study, and after finishing school there, he decided to go back to Budapest on his fixie bike and asked the people of Europe to join him on his way. The journey started in July, at the European Cycle Messenger Championship, Madrid and ended at the gates of Sziget Festival, Budapest in August. Friends from film schools of Budapest, Madrid and London joined the trip to make a road-movie about the challenges and most of all the fun that Levi and the other riders had on the way to Budapest.”

Damn. This week has been bringing the heat when it comes to the tunes. This new video from Roda Gira has my speakers bottoming out. Black and white, epic doom death and speed! Some people just get it. Be careful though, it might give you seizures.
