Mike is over in Italy right now, visiting Cinelli and Columbus for a little PR&D. Not many people can say that their frames are designed in Italy, in conjunction with one of the most repsected names in cycling. I can’t wait to see what they’re cooking up. See more great vignettes into the world of Cinelli and Columbus at the Mash Blog.

Carlos Guerra’s Red Hook Crit Inspired Renders
I was just ranting on Twitter (hey, it’s what I do best) about how it’s impossible for me to keep on top of emails as of late when I got a follow-up from Carlos Guerra. He emailed me just after I posted up photos of the Red Hook Crit Cinelli Vigorelli, saying it inspired him to model a bike based on Dan’s winning prize. And I blanked on posting it. Dowh! Good thing I can still put it up. Without further adieu, here it is!

44RN 144#47 on Chas’ Cinelli MASH
Look, I’m not going to sit here and say that the 44RN is the best track chainring ever but I will say that they look damn nice. Someone should convince Aaron to make more of these 144bcd 47t rings. I love mine and Chas has been riding his since he won it at Stupor Bowl. It looks damn fine on his Cinelli Mash low pro.

Beautiful Bicycle: Sönkes’ NOS Cinelli Laser
Photos by Robin Nilssen
Yeah, go ahead and file this under “oh my fucking god”. So it seems that a plane, loaded with NOS Cinelli Lasers crash-landed in Stockholm many years ago. On an epic journey through the forests, in search of ancient runes, Sönkes came across the mangled vessel, only to find all of the bikes were destroyed, save for one. He took it home and found it to be in incredible, NOS condition. Knowing that the Italians (or that Aussie) would be on his tail, he took it to Robin’s studio for documentation.

What Does a NOS Cinelli Laser Road Bike Look Like?

Robin, aka Boon Photography sent this shot over of a friends completely NOS Cinelli Laser road bike. All I can think is DAMN. Where the hell was that hiding out in Stockholm? This is just one shot, more to come next week.

Beautiful Beater: Jonathan’s Gazelle Track
I met up with Jonathan to shoot this well-used Gazelle track bike while I was in Sydney. It had so many little nuances, like the bar wrap job, the beaten-up Cinelli cockpit, double plate fork crown, a dented top tube and a very broken in Unicanitor. To keep the PiNP Facebook staying fresh, I uploaded a few more in the albums section. Head on over to check them out.

The 2012 Red Hook Crit Cinelli Vigorelli Prize Bike
Dan Chabanov has won the Red Hook Crit for the third time, meaning he now has three prize bikes. Each year, Cinelli donates a complete build to the winner and year after year, the bikes keep getting better. The 2012 trophy bike was already in King Kog‘s window when I went by on Sunday, so I took it out for some lens love.

The 2012 Red Hook Crit Coverage Presented by Cinelli USA
The last time I was at the Red Hook Crit, it was a small, intimate race through the dark, cobbled streets of Red Hook, Brooklyn. And even though I’ve paid close attention to the past two year’s event, I was not prepared to be greeted with a large, well-lit, legitimate closed course criterium. 20 laps of fast-paced track bike racing greeted me, complete with the standard spills and thrills. I feel like this year, more than before, the community as a whole embraced the event, sparking riders to travel from SF, LA and even as far as Italy and Spain. With Dan Chabanov defending his title, his competition came mostly from the legs of Mash‘s Rainier. With one lap to go, Dan’s solo gap was enough to seal his victory and Rainier took a solid second place. See the full results here.
It was the first time I’ve ever shot an event like this at night, so I wanted to try a few ideas out in field and for the most part, I’m pleased with the outcome.
Cinelli USA helped fund my trip out to the 2012 Red Hook Crit and below are select photos I shot for them.

The 2012 Red Hook Crit Dinner Celebration
I just got in from the 2012 Red Hook Crit Dinner Celebration and I’m a little drunk, very tired and anxious for what tomorrow night will bring. The general vibe at this year’s dinner was quite intimate, drawing in a small crowd of racers, media, supporters and NYC locals. A dinner was served, drinks were poured and I got to see some familiar faces. Cinelli unveiled the 2012 Red Hook Crit Vigorelli, Giro displayed their prizes and other brands showed off their contributions. It was a great night.

#FixieFamous Hern and Steve’s Cinelli Mash Histograms
I rolled up to Affinity yesterday and came across this site: Hern and Steve’s Cinelli Mash Histograms, 69’ing with each other on a parking meter. Everyone knows these two: they’re #FixieFamous. I feel like this year’s Red Hook Crit attendance is off the walls.

The 2012 Red Hook Crit Prizes are Lookin’ Good
Hey guys, I don’t know if you’ve heard but the 2012 Red Hook Crit is coming! Like, this weekend (3/24/12) and this year, the prizes are better than ever. Ride Brooklyn built up the prize Vigorelli and Dave just posted photos of all the goodies. But remember, the best prize is beating Crihs and money can’t buy that!
See you guys there. I’ll bring the celebratory bourbon!
