Lōgōs Components just announced a refresh of its Gída XC race wheel ($1,850), tipping the scales at a scant 1240 grams. Let’s check them out…
Gída (Greek for goat, as in “climbs like a” and “Greatest Of All Time”) was Lōgōs’ original XC race wheel. With the launch of Gída SL, Lōgōs has managed to add width, thickness, and compliance while shedding over 150 grams, bringing the weight down to just 1240g. All without compromise of performance. Lōgōs achieved this while preserving the dual-spring star ratchet hub architecture, asymmetric profile, 28 spoke count, 3-cross lacing pattern, and external brass nipples that made its forebear so strong, reliable, and easy-to-service.
One area where Lōgōs did not reduce weight is spokes and nipples. Opting for 28 Sapim CX-Rays per wheel laced
3-cross with external brass nipples adds approximately 90 grams relative to 24-spoke counts and lighter aluminum
alloy nipples found on many competing wheelsets. In exchange, riders benefit from enhanced responsiveness, durability, and serviceability with reduced maintenance and much lower lifetime cost-of-ownership (just ask anyone who’s had to true a wheel with hidden nipples or rebuild a wheel due to corroded, stripped, or seized AL ones).
