Team Dream’s Biggest Collection Yet!

Dream ér Stage Race Leaders Jersey

We all know Team Dream makes some great gear but this season’s drop has really raised the bar for the brand. With new jerseys, bibs, shirts, socks and accessories, there’s something for everyone, at any pricepoint. My personal favorites are the Thin Stripe and Dots Jerseys as well as the Thin Stripe Socks and the Chubby Bobcat Pocket T.

See more at Team Dream and check out the full collection below, including some of Jesse Carmody‘s rad photos!

Team Dream’s House of Cats and Stripes

Who would have guessed that Team Dream‘s HQ would be filled with cats and stripes?

I’m in Los Angeles this week and the House of Cats and Stripes will be my home base. The usual suspects and myself will be doing rides and hopefully, coming up with some great stories along the way. For now, I leave you with this photo of Blueberry Pancake, one of Sean’s cats. That’s PK for short…

Sunset Chasing Southern California’s Best – Ryan Wilson and Sean Talkington

Ryan and I recently planned a ride up Highway 39 to get some “work” done. We needed to shoot some of the Team Dream products in their natural habitat (shameless self promotion #1). We asked our friend Jackie to come along as a lady model. Jackie originally wanted 10K in cash (up front!) to model but settled for a turkey sandwich (also up front!) instead.

This ride is (in our opinion) the absolute hands down best climb in all of Southern California. The road used to be closed to cars a few years back and in those days you could do the bulk of the twisty climb without ever seeing another human. It was really post apocalyptic feeling back then. Now the 39 is open to motor vehicles until just after Crystal Lake, but even with the occasional “Fast And The Furious” car ripping by you every so often, this climb is still easily #1.

Today, Sean, Spencer and I rode mountain bikes at some of our favorite local trails but more importantly, we went swimming afterwards. I can’t get enough of this kind of stuff. Swimming holes are the perfect way to end a ride.

Team Dream-Designed Caps for the Ritte Women’s Team

This is a long one, so I’ll just paste it in, ok?

“The ladies from Ritte asked me to help design a cap for their trip to Ras Na mBan stage race. Kelli sent me the Ritte logo, asked me to match the “fabulous” font on their team kit and said “make it look Team Dreamy!”. The caps came out pretty cool & everybody knows both TDBT & Ritte like to party, so Matt decided to have a little fun with the imagery. Hope you guys dig them…because I sure do!

The team will use the proceeds to help take them to Ireland where they will participate in the country’s premier women’s stage race Ras Na mBan which takes place over six stages in five days and covers 427km. This is the second year running that the Ritte Women’s Team will compete in the event.

The Ritte Women’s Cycling Team is a boutique-sized assembly of determined women who share a passion for racing bikes. In a culture of power profiles, recovery tights and carbon bottle cage bolts, it’s nice to be reminded there are still girls out there who just wanna go fast and have a blast. Because bikes are fun. Riding is fun. Racing is fun. Oh, and winning races every now and then ain’t too shabby either.

Pick up a cap, look “FABULOUS” & help these ladies get to Ireland.”

… of how much #LASucksForCycling. Head over to Team Dream for a few more 35mm jammers.

I miss that town all the time. Actually, I just miss the West Coast, period. Luckily, this weekend, Lauren and I are leaving for a proper vacation. We’ve got a week to drive from Portland to Los Angeles (which isn’t nearly enough time) and I’ll be shooting vacation photos the whole way.

Hopefully, if you have never been down HWY 1, the next week will make you want to do so.

How’s everyone’s summer going?

Team Dream Extreme Volume 01: The Backboner
Photos and Words by Sean Talkington

Lyle from Acre recently moved to LA from SF and has been talking about “secret trails” near my home in Topanga for some time now.  He kept saying that they were easily the best thing he had ridden in our area.  I had skeptically tried to find the “secret trail-head” to the “secret trail” multiple times and always ended up lost.  A few months ago I thought I had found said trail, so two buddies came with to rejoice in the new super secret discovery, only to end up trailblazing for 2 hours & schlepping bikes over loads of rock faces.  I was bummed, my friends were bummed and I began to secretly hate these secret trails.

Team Dream Rizzle Dizzle Men’s and Women’s Kits

As a consumer, I like to know the ways and means a company (especially in the cycling industry) came out. Regardless as to what my relationship is to Sean Talkington of Team Dream Bicycling Team, there was something about what he started doing last year that piqued my interest.

So, it’s a team, but it’s not a team. It’s a team for people who aren’t on teams, which makes it arguably one of the biggest teams in the world. That’s kind of like a dream team, right? Something like that.

When Sean began working on his Rizzle Dizzle kits, and his Mondrian Homage vest, we wanted to do a little something more than just post photos and send people over to his store. Below is a backstory, or a history as to what inspires Sean to continuously push Team Dream’s product line.

Rubber Side Up 01

People ask me, “what does rubber side up mean?” – it means, you’ve gotta fall, or at least come close to it, to learn how to control your bike. Sometimes, that means looping out from a wheelie, or cooking a corner well done…

Such a good photo Sean!

Backbone – The Santa Monica Mountains on Cyclocross Bikes

Reportage

Backbone – The Santa Monica Mountains on Cyclocross Bikes

I’d like to think the kind of riding my friends and I enjoy would be considered “dumb”. From the freestyle on track bikes, all the way to the trail riding on cross bikes (even road bikes), sometimes, it’s just more fun to use the lesser-capable tool for the job. When Sean from Team Dream asked if Ty, Eric, Kyle and I wanted to ride Backbone trail during my last trip in LA, I said hell yes. Then I asked “which bike should I bring to LA?” The answer was what I had hoped for: cyclocross.

My bike has been through the ringer and it’s still one of my favorites to ride. Climbing some serious mountains, both on sealed and gravel, blasting trails in Texas, Vermont, California, Australia, Minnesota or where ever my travels take me. It’s been the most diverse beast in my stable. This ride however, this ride outdid just about everything else.

The day would be big. 60 miles and 7,500′ of climbing. 85% on dirt. Most of it on legitimate / illegitimate singletrack. There were very few chill spots. This was a MTB ride on 33c tires and drop bars. Even as part of our group passed a guy on a full sus MTB riding a downhill section, the dude had the audacity to label our cross bikes as “cheater bikes”. Ok Mr. fullface helmet and pads.

For as many fire road climbs, there were 1-track descents. Nothing was too technical or difficult to ride down, but some parts were too steep to climb with a 34/28. To top it off, I broke my fucking pedal in half at mile 20, Eric was just getting over a serious injury from a car hitting him and we were grossly unprepared for the lack of water.

High points: finding water that had been stashed in the bushes for months (the labels were bleached out, condensation formed at the top – i.e. it had been forgotten), the damn Coke machine at the Malibu Creek State Park (make sure you have plenty of $1 bills – I had 10), the subsequent swimming hole and wearing a hip bag, stuffed with a mushy breakfast burrito from Pedalers Fork.

THE HERO OF THE DAY WAS CARLA, SEAN’S GIRLFRIEND FOR DROPPING US OFF AND PICKING US UP!

We started at the Yerba Lot trailhead (one, 10 mile section is closed to bikes, so we had to re-route around that) and ended at the Santa Monica pier inside the photo booth.

I know I post a lot of ride photosets, but this one is not one to be missed! Check out some narrated photos in the Gallery!

NEWS BREAK- Provocative Photos of Instagram Superhunk Surface!

Los Angeles is a city.  A tough city.  A city that pulls in young vibrantly ambitious male models, willing to do (literally) anything to make a buck and get their name out.  These men are are consistently treated like pieces of hot meat, all the while trading their sexuality in hopes of one day making it “Tracko Big”.  “Its sick and its cruel but that’s just the way it goes in this dirty bitch town”,  says former sex god & male model turned internet bicycle legand Sheldon Brown.  Mr. Hollywood Ultra Romance is no exception to this rule and these new photos are the most recent in a long line of sultry images that have recently popped up.”
