… and I’m stoked to be getting a bike designed by him this year. I first was introduced to Geoff’s work when I used to skateboard religiously, as I’m sure many of you did at one point. Who else had those McFetridge Vandals?
In the 90’s, when skateboarding and larger names like Nike began to look to artists to revitalize their brands, Geoff’s work inspired me. Even in my 30’s I still love seeing what he’s been up to.

My mom posted this photo on my FB wall this morning along with some sappy message about how I brought skateboarding, BMX and other things to their attention at a young age. Those are my younger brothers. As parents, I terrified them not by being a cut up in school, but by building kicker ramps and dirt jumps in the woods with my friends.
They worried, tried to dissuade me from skating and riding, even though I never broke a bone. Instead, they encouraged soccer… I kept skating until I was 23, when I got serious about riding bikes again. We were broke as shit growing up, but I made things happen – no that’s not a Bones Brigade deck, but it’s what we could afford – hell I think we bought it at a yard sale but I loved that damn skateboard.

Benny Gold and I have gotten to know each other over the years through various outlets, one of which being the track bike scene in SF. Back in the mid-2000’s Benny was designing logos for numerous bike shops and brands, including Mash and City Grounds. Since then, he’s been focusing almost exclusively on his brand. Each season, look books are essential in a brand’s marketing and while I was in SF, he wanted me to shoot some photos. I don’t really do lookbooks, so it was something different from my day to day shooting style.

As I travel more each month, the time I spend at home in Austin is really precious. I’ve been really enjoying the Mamiya, shooting portraits and some of the randomness that I come across. I was going to find some more meaningful way to display these photos, with some theme of “weekends” but I’m too tired from this weekend’s activities…

The Us Versus Them FGFS squad crashed the Active skate park before hitting a few street spots. Watching these guys rip the park is one thing but holy shit, that last clip! Devon’s one lucky dude.

It’s Sunday. That means it’s dude day. At least that’s what I found out when I bumped into “those guys” in Full Frame Collective. I remember riding skateboards out to jib spots when I was in middle school but of all the places to ride in SF, these dudes just thrashed a 4″ curb for two hours. Long enough for me to get sunburnt and catch a few flicks.

Michael Sieben and Taj Mihelich have been friends since the early days of T-1. So it only made sense that when their respective companies, Roger Skateboards and Fairdale blossomed, they should do a collaboration. Skateboarding is a great way to get around but by the time you get to the spot or the park, you’re already toast, especially in the Summer heat. So these two businessmen thought, hey, why not make a bike that embodies both of our brands and add some pizzazz to it?
The Fairdale Parser Roger Skateboards edition is just that. A simple commuter, stripped down to the basics and with a little extra bounce for the buck. This limited run of 50 will come in Fairdale sizing of 10 small completes, 30 medium, and 10 large. They’ll be built, as shown, minus the hand brake (production model will have a coaster brake), will feature the new Fairdale Archer Bars, a complete Roger skateboard and the new Fairdale Cargo Skaterack.
This is their final sample, done in-house with spraypaint, so expect a much nicer production paint. Retail is $800 and they can be ordered through Full Factory Distribution via your LBS, late May 2012.
