The world is a big stage for cycling and the Rapha Continental asks: “where would you ride?”

The Great Escape: Serious #Alpvibes
If you’ve been following the Great Escape, you’ve watched E and S take on the Alps with their touring bikes, loaded down with camping equipment. I love following their rides and still check in on their Tumblr every day and it wasn’t until seeing this photo that I realized there hasn’t been a plug for a while.
Check out that bike… Most importantly, check out that seatpost. Whatever E is riding, it looks pretty boss.

The 2013 PiNP Calendar: June
This is the sixth layout of the 2013 PiNP Calendar, entitled “Into the Void”. The camera, lens used and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.
During my tour in China with Factory 5 and Mission Workshop, we often found ourselves riding into the unknown. When visibility is low and you can’t see more than half a mile ahead of you, who knows what lies ahead. Part of that mystique is what made that trip so unique and photos like this barely scratch the surface of what it was like to ride through the countryside.

Recent Roll: Not All of China Was Terrible to Ride In
Here’s a photo of Jeff from Factory 5 riding down an open road somewhere west of Shanghai. After all the smog (which is still visible in the background), trash and shitty roads, sections like this were a gem… I’m ramping up to my book release and gallery show in SF on June 15th. More details to come.

Jamming Out in Los Angeles
Well, not that kinda jamming.
I’ve been very fortunate every time I’ve been to LA, only because I have the best friends there. Friends who are the best ride guides and of course, own the best bike shop in LA (I mean the best bar in Silverlake). Tracko took me on one of the best cross rides I’ve been on in Los Angeles the last time I was in town. Parts of it were very LA, while other sections felt like Austin and some even reminded me (mostly smelled like) Australia. We got to fuck around a bit on tech sections, avoid dog walkers, took a few spills and hammered it home just in time for lunch. Los Angeles really does have some of the best bike riding in the country…
We totalled 48 miles and around 3,600′ of elevation but who gives a shit about the numbers with trails like this. See for yourself below!

Recent Roll: End of Road
After a hefty processing and scanning bill, I finally have all of my 2013 ATOC photos. For me, one of the benefits of shooting from the hip with a 35mm camera is catching moments like this and not knowing how they’ll turn out. End of roll / end of road, coming down Mt. Diablo with Garrett, Jeremy and Julie. I’m just bummed the next exposure didn’t make the cut!
While I figure out what to do with all these photos, I’ll let you have the high res to do as you please. Click the link above.

Rapha: The 2013 Women’s Prestige
Photos by Brian Vernor
The 2013 Rapha Women’s Prestige looked to be a brutal course and with coverage like this, few will argue. Check out the full write-up by Julie Krasniak here and more photos by Brian Vernor here.
Now get off the internet and get outside.

Get Out and Ride This Weekend
It’s almost the weekend and I shouldn’t even have to tell you to get out and ride. I haven’t shown any of my film photos from China but I can let these two slip through. It’s Jeff, MMC and Tyler from Factory 5 ripping out of the bamboo forest…

Craig Lindner’s Almanzo 100 Photos
Photos by Craig Lindner
Because of a huge scheduling snafu on my part, I couldn’t make it to the Almanzo 100 or the Royal 162 this year. People are saying that it was a brutal ride and Craig’s photos are striking proof. Over 100 miles and around 7,000′ on gravel is no joke and the Royal 162 looked like a brute as well.
I hate to say it but “next year”… til then, check out all of Craig’s photos at his Flickr.

SF Coffee Runs
I love riding in California and today was my first time riding in Golden Gate Park. I crashed with Chas last night and this morning, we headed out to Trouble coffee for some of their excellent coffee and toast. There’s nothing like the #lightbro in early SF mornings.

It Was a Great Morning Upon Gibraltar
So as you can tell, there hasn’t been much coverage from the ATOC. Instead of following the race each day, we’ve been riding in the cities that are hosting the race. Today, we woke up and hit Gibraltar. Or rather, Gibraltar hit us. It was amazing and there will be more details once my film gets developed. For now, this iPhone photo looks mad decent.

#NatureIsMetal
Photos by Kyle Kelley
I’m in Los Angeles today, en route for Santa Barbara and the ATOC tomorrow but before leaving town, I had to do a cross ride with Kyle. Some ups, just as many downs and a few spills made for a great ride. While my film sits in its canister, awaiting being developed, check out these two photos from Kyle’s Instagram. I forget how beautiful Los Angeles is, especially this time of year in the mountains. Nature is so metal.
Praise the Necronomicog.

Rapha UK Continental: The Bryan Chapman
It’s almost the weekend and while most of you don’t have to worry about snow for the next few months, there are plenty of people who do. Brrrrrr… Here’s the latest from the Rapha Continental:
“The UK Continental’s first journey of 2013 took our riders to Wales to investigate the route of the Bryan Chapman Memorial, a 600km audax and uniquely British type of endurance ride. The event is named after the late Bryan Chapman, an intrepid long-distance cyclist who often rode across Wales and back just to visit his mechanic.”
Seriously. Wow. What a fucking rad story.

Funeral Cycling: Summit Bully
I have no idea what’s going on here but if it gets the Golden Saddle Seal of Approval, I’m in. Still though, I played Thorr’s Hammer in lieu of the 4×4 electro and it changed the mood considerably.

Mudfoot Hump Hundo Video
Cloud Burst is my favorite ride in Los Angeles and last weekend, the Mudfoot and Golden Saddle Cyclery crew led a group ride up to and over the crest.
