Cane Creek Takes Over EE Cycleworks

I absolutely love EE Cycleworks‘ caliper brakes and will say with confidence that they’re the best brakes I’ve ever ridden on a road bike. Problem is, their availability is often low to say the least. Today Cane Creek announced it’ll take over the manufacturing, distribution and marketing of EE Cycle Works. As of November 2016, Cane Creek will begin rolling out product, so stay tuned. Head to Fair Wheel Bikes’ blog to read the full scoop.

Bike Jerks: Baphomet Shirt

The Baphomet is a symbol, first drawn by Eliphas Levi, that represents balance in the universe. Over the years, it’s been heavily circulated throughout the “metal world,” from bands to bicycles. Bike Jerks plays homage to this century-old illustration with their Baphomet shirt. In stock now at Bike Jerks!

Onion Velo’s Anylander Panniers by Porcelain Rocket

Projects like this always pique my interest and tap into my Paypal account:

“Together with Vince at Ponderosa Cyclery in Omaha, I’m excited to announce the launch of a project that is near and dear to both of us, and has been in the works for a while. The Anylander Pannier is a bag system that has been born out of a fondness for the style and function of traditional panniers combined with the need for technology that can handle the rough and tumble lifestyle of a backroads tourist.

As a pack system, we’ve found that we really like the usefulness, versatility, and size of panniers, as opposed to the popular, rack-less “bikepacking” style bag systems. However, when riding the rocky, extremely rough backroads of Western Nebraska, many panniers available do a less than perfect job handling the demands that we put on them. While we have found the durability and simplicity of bikepacking bags to be advantageous in some situations, the extremely stripped down nature of rack-less bags, as well as the detailed “tetris-styled” pack plan necessary to use them cramps our relaxed, easy going, “bring-a-few-luxury-items-if-not-the-entire-kitchen-sink” touring lifestyle.”

Check out the new Anylander Panniers at Onion Velo and pre-order these $325 panniers by hollering at Carl’s Email!

Swift Industries and Ultra Romance: Ültraswift Wizard Sleeve Bags

Ultra Romance knows a thing or two about bicycle portage and while he always has ideas, sometimes making them a reality is out of his capabilities. That’s why he reached out to Swift Industries to help in the design and fabrication of a new bag design.

Dubbed the Ültraswift Wizard Sleeve bags, these roll top bags can expand to engulf your cargo needs and are available in two sizes: Cavernous (44 liters expanded / 27 liters closed) and Covy Cave (28 liters expanded / 16 liters closed). Like all Swift bags, these are made in Seattle by cyclists!

Head to the Poppi’s Fine Public Restrooms for pre-ordering.

Matt’s Gunnar Roadie with Ultegra

Reportage

Matt’s Gunnar Roadie with Ultegra

Made in Waterford, Wisconsin at the Waterford factory, Gunnar has something for everyone in their catalog for sometimes half the price of other US-made frames. Their bikes range from off-road tourers, to all-road bikes to classic road bikes like their Roadie model. With clearance for a 28mm tire, stainless vertical dropouts and a geometry fit for either fast rides or even racing, the Roadie is a die-hard road frame. Some people might race on it, but a majority of customers will buy it as their go-to road cycling frameset.

Matt‘s Roadie is built rather uniquely. Sure the Ultegra group is pretty standard, but his Salsa Cowbell bars, Ruffy Tuffy tires and Carradice bag imply something more. That and that funky Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman in the Michael Keaton Batman movie bar tape just adds a bit of character. It’s hard to say where I’ll see Matt on this bike, but knowing him, it’ll probably be somewhere (high) in the mountains with some burritos stuffed into his saddle pack, waving a Mudfoot flag.

House Industry’s Velo Jersey is Back in Stock

House’s Velo Jersey, rendered in this olive drab, black and white wool, is one of my all-time favorite wool jerseys. These euro-cut jerseys will last a lifetime, as long as you follow House’s car instructions: Cycle regularly, hang to dry, repeat often, do not bleach or Strava. See more at House!

Ornot: House Jerseys

A labor of love, the House jerseys from Ornot are by no means club fit and not really race fit either. They’re redesigned to fit just right, with a slimmer, articulated cut, including a shortened center front. Even the zipper has been redesigned to be lightweight, allowing the jersey to lay as flat as possible. Available in three designs and in stock now at Ornot.
