I love seeing brands working with their local frame builders. Ten Speed Hero and Method Bikes worked on a pulling together a small batch of fillet brazed road frames. Once built up with Campy Super Record 11, it comes in around 15lbs. Head over to Ten Speed Hero for more.

Surly Introduces the New Straggler Disc Cross
The world is going bonkers for disc brakes on drop-bar bikes and Surly is leading the way. While I’m not sold on the fad, I will say this bike looks sick. Here’s the word from Surly:
“…the Straggler, Surly’s long overdue disc brake equipped cross bike. The first thing you’ll probably notice is that it’s got disc brakes. Good, now that we got that out of the way let me point out a couple more things that make it stand apart from our venerable CrossCheck. The rear dropouts have been totally redesigned with a couple things in mind – Disc brakes, rear derailleur, single speed, and ease of wheel removal. The Straggler frame & fork is also ED coated to help to improve the life of your frame. The Straggler fork is using the Long Haul Trucker dropouts, mid blade & crown eyelets to accommodate a wide verity of fenders and racks. A complete build spec will be available on our website soonish.”
Throw some Bruce Gordon Rock n Road tires on that thing and rip away! Keep an eye on Surly for more updates.

Chris’ Icarus Road
When Ian at Icarus moved to Austin, Texas, I don’t think he anticipated working on this many local frames. Or that Chris would put down two deposits at once: a lightweight road bike and a fendered, touring / commuter. This is the first out of the queue, a modern, steel road bike with a matte paintjob and a few clean details. Nothing extravagant, but also nothing simple.
Chris is a father and he works full time, so riding is always a last minute, unplanned endeavor. He was looking for a little inspiration to sneak in an hour or two when he could and Ian built him just that. With a Zipp cockpit, seatpost, Chris King R45 to HED Belgium, Fizik Kurve saddle, Campy Chorus 11 speed and King Cage bottle cages, it’s up there in the “dream bike” category…

Everyone loves the Kagero and now the Renovatio takes a step in a new direction:
“Leader Bikes is pleased to announce it’s newest collaboration with Pedal Consumption: The Renovatio. Luke Binder, California’s 2010 Elite State Roadrace Champion, has quietly been testing the frameset both on and off the track to ensure it’s high quality construction and compact geometry meets the high expectations set by the previous Leader X Pedal Consumption frame, the Kagero. Look for The Renovatio this Fall at your local Leader Bikes dealer.”

Mash SF: 2014 Cinelli Histogram Frameset
I have to say, this is the best looking Histogram to date. Before there were dozens of modern, aluminum low pros, there was the Cinelli Mash Histogram. These frames have found their way to the far reaches of the globe and for 2014, Mash did something a little new:
“With the 2014 trade shows approaching, there will be more information available on collaborations we have in store with Cinelli. The first announcement is the revised finish of our Histogram set. This polished frame shares the original lines, updated in grayscale tones. We will open a pre-order 30 days before these land in the US later this fall. Stay tuned!”
I’m sure I’ll be seeing and shooting one of these soon enough…

No 22: Made in The USA Titanium Road and Track Frames
The Great Divide Road Frameset
The Little Wing Track Frameset
I can’t tell you how many companies I get emailing me their frames but rarely do the words Made in the USA appear in the copy. No 22 is a Canadian company, using a well-known US-based titanium manufacturer to produce high end but affordable frames.
Their two models are the Great Divide road frame and the Little Wing track frame. Both of which tout clean detailing and construction. I’m waiting on a complete build to post as well, so stay tuned. Until then, check out No 22’s offerings here!

Bishop Bikes: Ben’s Columbus MS Road
Photos by Keith Teket
Chris Bishop’s Columbus MS track frame made the rounds on the internet almost immediately after it was built and documented. I’d say that it was one of his most popular frames to date. So popular that when Ben put a deposit down, he specifically requested the road version of the beloved MS track frame and that’s exactly what he got! See more at the Bishop Flickr!

An Icarus Cross Frame With Nice Details
I had to swing by Icarus Frames ( @IcarusFrames ) today to pick up a few things and while I was there, I got to see some of his latest handywork. This 1×10 commuter cross frame is heading up to Boston and while the customer didn’t want anything too fancy, Ian added some clean detailing. The fork will be an ENVE cross and it’ll be heading out to paint shortly. Part of me really loves seeing a frame in this state but a good coat of paint always brings out the details.
Check out a few more shots below.
