MacNeil and Defgrip worked on some incredibly well-branded grip packaging. Oh and I’m sure the grips are solid too. Pick up a set at your local BMX shop.

DUB Home Grown DVD Teaser
Rounding off the 4.20 sherades is the newest trailer from DUB BMX. I’ve been a longtime fan of this team and their “chills not skills” vibe. We need more of that in cycling.
“The second trailer for the upcoming DUB DVD featuring full sections from Ditchburn, Lacey, Benny L, Bruno Hoffman, Bengo, Mike Taylor, Millsy, Phil DeMattia, Josh Roberts, Olly Evans, Phil DeMattia, Cookie, Nailz, Sam Jones and a ton of other friends sections.
The DVD will be out on the 09.01.2012.”

Keeping it USA: Tom Blyth’s FBM Bellwitch BMX Frame
If I didn’t already have a bitchin’ BMX frame, I would consider getting one of the new Tom Blyth FBM models. Dubbed the Bellwitch, these street-ready frames are made in the USA for an ass-kicking goodtime, no matter where you are.
To get you pumped, here’s Tom’s section from Thousand Yard Stare. It’s one of my favorites on the DVD.

Tristan Afre Interview
I remember first “encountering” Tristan on the internet a few years ago. There was a photo of AJ doing a barspin on Flickr and Tristan critiqued the photographer, saying something along the lines of “shadows”. The photographer had placed the flash in a less than ideal location and Tristan was merely pointing it out. I thought it was an asshole move at the time, but I wasn’t aware of Tristan and the photographer’s past.
To call Tristan Afre passionate is an understatement. His moniker Gutstains, is already making waves on the 4th Reich known as The Come Up (I can joke, right?). Loving what you do and obsessing over it until you achieve perfection isn’t easy and Tristan’s definitely on that route. For more of a background on this #bmxiefamous photographer, head over to BMX Union for the read.
Getting to know Tristan and other BMX photographers like Cody Nutter is already helping me learn to shoot better and reading what these guys do will help you appreciate photography even more. Thanks for the color-correction last night Cody!

Tom Dugan for Etnies
This was all over Twitter today and with good reason. Dugan’s one of my favorite riders and if you need ANY reason whatsoever why, just watch this. I love the bouncy castle in his backyard ramp but the big nollies are crucial. Epic.
See more at Etnies.

A Day in 10 Photos: 04.08.2012
In some communities, a barn raising brings neighbors together and on the east side of Austin, it’s a mini ramp. Mike’s been going on and on about how he wants to build a mini in his backyard. Last week, he finally started it. Now, $600 into it and the mini is almost ridable. After my road ride yesterday, I went over to help him and Luke out. So far, so good!

Welcome Home Puckett
Puckett’s back in Texas after an 8-month hiatus in Louisiana where he lived in a trailer and worked his ass off at a factory. People’s lives often go through cycles but hanging with this dude the past few days has been fun. Oh and the Empire bowl is scary as shit. I need to practice BMX more.

TREE: A Day in the Life with Clint Reynolds
If there is anything that’s more inspirational than this to watch this week, send it to me. Right now, this is as good as it gets. I’ve posted photos of Clint’s van before as well as his motorcycle and even a few shots of him riding. He’s one of my favorite BMX riders and has a vibe that I can get behind. Don’t miss this one! Congrats to TREE for putting such a solid team together.
Ride BMX had the exclusive on this and there’s a great reflection on the video over there, so check that out.

The New Empire BMX Bowl
The old Empire BMX bowl was legendary. So many videos and photos took place behind their old spot off 5th street and since they moved up on north Lamar in Austin, their bowl was in shambles. Various radii of ramp laid out in the rain, mixed in with remnants from Texas Toast and other jams, until Ryan Corrigan submitted drawings for a bigger, better ramp. Months later and this sprawling bowl is complete but it took a lot of work. A few weeks ago, I headed out to shoot some photos with my 15mm fisheye on my AE-1. Trust me, these photos don’t do this ramp justice.

Tree Bicycle Co: Ergo Nomical Seat
I always admire how when everyone else is doing one thing, TREE goes off and does their own version. The Ergo Nomical seat is a throwback to the early BMX seats. It’s a little wider and a little longer, much like the old Skyway Hot seats. Check out more at TREE.
