While I love good studio photography, personally, I think Fyxo‘s BT looks better being wheelied. But that’s just me. Literally. See more incredible photos at Ari Hatzis‘ portfolio site!

Andy White of Fyxomatosis knows how to throw a great party. Year after year, the Melburn Roobaix continues to grow both in numbers and in reach. People come from all over the world to take part in the two wheeled party. It’s not a race and it’s not exactly a ride, it’s just a good time!
See for yourself how stoked people are at the Melburn Roobaix portraits page!
It’s not everyday that BAUM photographs one of their Corretto track bikes, so when I saw this, I had to share. Check out more of this GTR metallic black, venom green and Dura Ace track build at the BAUM Flickr.
“Local access only” is not to be confused with “locals only”. If there’s one thing to be said about Australians its that they love to show visitors how great their land is. Land is something that’s very ethereal these days. Tourism changes the way one interacts or engages with a place. For example, a surfer would have a very similar experience as a cyclist in Australia but a businessman or businesswoman might have a different perspective altogether.
As cyclists, we look for the most anti-social areas to socialize. No one wants to chat on a busy street. #NotBeachRd. We look at cities differently and while many people prefer the beaten path, some head out down roads with no KOM, no segments and no social scene. I’ve been very blessed to be given such a unique view of Victoria and over the years have met some great guides.
This roll of film was lost. Ok, not lost, just in the bottom of my film container in the fridge. It contains some moments from rides, a Black Breath show in Melbourne and some other randomness. Check out the narrated photos for the full story.

It’s the sort of tale that is the segue into a horror movie. A few mates take to the ‘Strayan wood to celebrate one of them turning forty years young. They don’t have a support car, one (ok two) of them has a camera and all hell breaks loose. Right? Well, not hardly. No hell broke loose, no hillbillies made us squeal like pigs and no thirty foot crock ate our tour guide.
In fact, we all made it out unscathed, including my film…

This is the fifth layout of the 2013 PiNP Calendar, entitled “The Middle of Nowhere”. The camera, lens used and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.
There were many moments during my recent ride in Australia where I came to a skidding stop, hand already in my backpack, pulling out my camera but this is by far one of the my favorites. If you’ve ever wanted to go somewhere that looks like nowhere else, this is it. You know, just doing my share for Tourism Victoria…

Yesterday I was in bed, with food poisoning all day (funny how I didn’t get sick at all in China) and so I didn’t get to post any weekend stokedness. It’s not too late. Get out and seek this.
Few can narrate like Andy from FYXO. I can only imagine the stories he’ll tell his daughter when she is all grown up. My recount of Shifter Dan’s Birthday Bush Bash Day 02 pales in comparison to that of Fyxomatosis’ efforts.
Head over to Fyxomatosis now to check out more great photos and a pretty great ride recap. I already miss that place…

Many years ago, Andy had his first love affair with the ‘Wood. You can read about it here (seriously, do it). I remember the first time I read that ride report. My mind was blown. “Those Aussies are insane”. This year was the first time a large group went on the ride and it won’t be the last time. Before you read about some brand claiming the roads are their own, go out and do it yourself. These roads are yours for the taking.
If you need any more motivation, head over to FYXO for the full checklist of how to get into the ‘Wood as well as more incredible photos.
Great photos Andy. Let’s do it again in October.
Well, we’re all back from Shifter Dan’s 40th Birthday Bush Bash. After two days, 180 miles and over 31′,000 of climbing, we’re all a little sore. That said, if there was an HC for stokedness, we’d all be there. More to come, but for now, here’s Dan finding his inner spirit animal while climbing into the birthplace of the Necronomicog.
It’s Merckx Mondays (in the Northern Hemisphere anyway) and I’m back in the land of Eddy Merckx. Not Belgium, Melbourne. As far as I’m concerned, classic Eddy Merckx bicycles in Australia is pronounced “F Y X O”. Andy’s supplied the world with great photos of classic steel bicycles over the years and his new 7-FYXO kits are looking great. Pick up the 7-FYXO Jersey here and the FYXO classic bibs here.
Don’t miss the full FYXO photoset here.
This site has featured Shifter Bikes numerous times in the past and since arriving in Australia, I’ve already picked up on a few changes at Dan’s shop. Here’s a little preview showcasing some new accents that just so happen to be orange and black…
I’ll be setting up my desk at the shop while I’m in Melbourne, so swing through.

Check out the newest offerings from Rapha’s SS13 line. I’m pumped to see some more women’s offerings and as always, the full line looks great. See more from the Spring Summer 2013 Lookbook for Training & Racing here and the women’s bib shorts here.
Hey Cindy and Mal!

While the Fixed Mag cover is a beautiful sealed road, this road epitomizes unsealed beauty. Andy posted this around the beginning of the New Year and I was holding off to post it so I didn’t jinx my trip back to Melbourne. I’ll be staring down this frontage road once again and I can’t wait. This truly is one of the most beautiful places on Earth and having ridden it already, maybe it’ll be easier? Who knows. Andy and Dan are already threatening to “break me again“…
Faz was in Brisbane, Australia for nearly a month visiting family and friends. While there, he put together a video showcasing some of the rad rides he took part of!
The Australian Custom Bicycle Show is this weekend in Australia and this bike is only one of the prime examples of Australian craftsmanship that will be on display. As part of the Rapha Continental Australia, Darren Baum worked closely with Rapha to design one of the wildest Baum Corretto paint jobs I’ve ever seen. Integrating the Rapha Gazzet Paper seamlessly into the wet coat creates a one-of-the-kind aesthetic.
The build? Pretty straight forward with full SRAM Red, ENVE clinchers, Fizik saddle and custom Busyman Bicycles bar tape to top it off. Check out more high-res photos of this beauty in the Gallery and if you’re in Australia, get your ass to the ACBS this weekend.
I’m really proud of everything Andy is doing in Melbourne, including this event:
FYXO is proud to host the first Australian Custom Bicycle Show this 1 & 2 December in Melbourne, Australia.
The ACBS is an opportunity to see a flourishing range of high quality hand constructed frame offerings that are ‘Made in Australia’ and cater to the desires of passionate cyclists.
We aim to promote and foster a part of the bicycle industry we have long been passionate about. Made by Hand / Made in Australia.
From Frame builders and painters to hand crafted cycling accesories, come meet established and emerging exhibitors, their custom products and fall head over pedals in lust with their offerings.
Speaking of Australia, this new avon black and ruby red Cubano is stunning! See more of Darren’s work here.
