The All-New Surly Moonlander Has 6.2″ Tires and a Pinion Gearbox

The Surly Moonlander ($4199) is a fat bike with a major chassis upgrade to clear a whopping 24 x 6.25″ tire and a 9-speed Pinion gearbox. Let’s check it out…

Made from 4130 steel with a compact front triangle, a mid-tail rear triangle for more control, 197 mm thru-axles front and rear, and the full fender and rack treatment Surly is known for, the Moonlander is unlike anything the brand has offered in the past. To make dismounting and mounting easier, it includes a dropper post.

It rolls on large volume 6.2” Surly Molenda Tires on 24 x 100mm Surly Clown Royal Rims and is inflated by Surly’s new TPU tubes to create a footprint large for maximum flotation over snow and sand. The wide chassis allows for clearance for 24 x 6.25” tires, as well as 26 x 5.1”, 27.5 x 4.8”, and 29 x 3”.

Access four frame sizes to fit any rider: SM, MD, LG, XL.
