Sklar Bikes Tall Tale Hardtail MTB and PBJ Handlebar

Our friends at Sklar Bikes have some exciting news today: the steel “Tall Tale” 29er hardtail mountain bike and the new aluminum handlebar called the “PBJ Bar” are available and shipping now! Let’s look at the details of both below…

“Tall Tale” 29er Hardtail MTB

The first production mountain bike from Sklar, the “Tall Tale”is here. The steel hardtail is designed around 29 x 2.6” tires, a 130mm-150mm suspension fork, spec’d with a UDH dropout for sram transmission compatibility and a modern-yet-familiar geometry that is up for everyday trail rides, long bikepacking trips and everything in between. Because of Sklar’s small production run sizes, these frames are able to use the finest materials available for superior ride quality and durability. “Over the past decade of designing and building custom mountain bikes I got to hear first hand what riders are actually looking for in a hardtail” said founder and designer Adam Sklar. “It is really satisfying to see those ideas and design philosophy brought to a more approachable scale with the Tall Tale frame”.

The Tall Tale’s geometry is progressive yet familiar and features hard to find features like mounting locations for not two but three bottle cages, external cable routing, and ample tire clearance. Tall Tales are available and shipping now from Oakland, California in two beautiful colors and 4 sizes S-XL as a frame only or complete bike.

Frames are priced at $1,199, available in “kale salad” or “pumpkin pie,” and quantities are limited.

“PBJ Bar” Aluminum Handlebar

The handlebar is called the “PBJ Bar” and compliments the design of Sklar’s upcoming “Performance Basket Jammer” frameset that will be available next year. “I couldn’t find a bar with just the right backsweep, so I designed my own”, said designer and founder Adam Sklar. The PBJ bar is made from thin wall 7000 series aluminum which makes them nice and light at 395 grams while still offering great compliance for a comfy and controlled ride. “I think 28 degrees of sweep is about the maximum you can have for comfort while still maintaining good control on actual technical trails, I’m really excited for people to get to try this bar out!” Sklar concluded.
