Ed Glazar: Johnny Coast Portrait
I love seeing Ed’s work, especially his portraits of friends in NYC. He shot this photo of Johnny Coast back when I worked on the Atavistic Urge. Love the Weedeater shirt and check out Ben’s cross bike in the foreground. See more at Ed’s photo blog.

Johnny Coast: Guy’s Rando
If you’re a fan of locally-built bicycles like I am, then maybe you remember one of Johnny Coast‘s bicycles that was featured in the Atavistic Urge. This is Guy’s rando bike, finally complete. It is impeccable with a healthy mix of modern flair and French classics. Check out more photos at the Johnny Coast Flickr.

A Day in 10 Photos: 11.30.2010
Today was one of the busiest days I’ve had in forever. For those of you who didn’t catch this on my Twitter, I’m spending the Winter in Austin, Texas. Preparing for a seasonal trip take a lot of time and today, all my plans came crashing down as I had to squeeze in a few extra errands. All that and my posts for yesterday were scheduled for 2012, not 2010. Bad omen? Maybe.
One of my visits today was to Seth Rosko‘s studio. He’s been busy with building and retrofitting motorcycles that it’s easy to forget this dude is doing big things. In every sense of the word, Seth is a master. Soul craft at its finest. I stopped by to check out his new BMXs that have been making headlines (even his 26″ big bikes are blowing up!) and got sucked into the veritable eye candy that is he and Johnny Coast‘s workshop.
Check out nine more photos below.

The Tig-Welder and the Brazer: Rosko and Coast
Today Sara Kinney and I went out to Johnny Coast‘s and Seth Rosko‘s studio one last time to wrap-up our little project we’ve been working on. The intention of this trip was to catch the two working on their respective projects. On one side of the shop was Seth, tig-welding a townie bike and on the other side of the shop was Johnny, brazing a bottom bracket.
The contrast of these two artist’s styles are what make them such a unique pair. Something you’ll see further explained in the near future. There’s also a big event at their space this weekend. More on that to come!

Johnny Coast Cycles: Preview
Today I visited Johnny Coast and Seth Rosko‘s space out in Bushwick with Sara Kinney. We’ve got something in the works that I’m not going to discuss at the moment. To hold you over, here’s a teaser photo showing Johnny’s most recent build, a nuclear green cyclocross frameset. Insanity!
Marinate on that for a bit!

Takuya Sakamoto: Coast Cycles
Tak is always out and about shooting photos of local cyclists. For Loop Magazine’s Vol3, he visited Johnny Coast‘s shop in Brooklyn. This is one of the photos that didn’t get a huge presence on the 2-page Coast Cycles / Seth Rosko layout. Luckily for us, he just uploaded a high-res version to his Flickr.
Some really nice pieces in there, that’s for sure!
