With the Beargrease you can expect a race-ready geometry, a Mukluk is for winter exploration, and the Blackborow is a long-range tourer. Cane Creek Cycling Components and LaMere Cycles just announced the pre-order for their eeWings Titanium cranks optimized for modern fat bike hub and bottom bracket standards. The fatbike crank kit will come with a longer bottom bracket spindle to allow for optimal frame clearance and q-factor.
LaMere Cycles will be selling the eeWings fat bike cranks as an option on their complete bike models or aftermarket consumer-direct at a retail of $1049. Those interested in pre-ordering can do so now at Lamere Cycles with expected delivery in November. Check out more specifications below.
Remember that sick Black Sheep we shared last week? Well, the owner of that bike, Sam, has been tinkering in his garage and building some really unique bikes. Granted, he calls them “hunks of steel” and “kinda weird,” but as a cycling photographer I couldn’t pass up shooting his 135-millimeter-spaced Rohloff fat bike.

Is it wild to anyone else that there’s a Fat Bike Nats? Damn, it looks fun.
I know there’s a big fat bike contingency out there, but do you also like to ski? If so, this product has piqued the interest of a few contributors to the site. What is it, the first day of winter? Apparently that means it’s time to release all things fatbike in Canada. Here’s a sweet video of Rocky Mountain’s freeride legends on their Blizzard fatbike in the BC backcountry, with some great photos below.
Moab was the spring product locale of choice for this year’s new product lineup across the MTB realm. Here’s Borealis‘ new Echo hardtail fat bike, using the new Rock Shox Bluto Fork.
Well, this morning we saw the Rock Shox Bluto fat bike suspension fork, with its tapered steerer and ample clearance. Problem is, a lot of the available fat bikes have traditional 1 1/8″ steerers. Although, over the past year, a lot of the fat bike offerings have converted to tapered steerers but the Salsa Bucksaw is the first to be designed around the Bluto. To add to the radness, they’ve added a rear shock too. That makes it the first full suspension – using Salsa’s Split Pivot™ system – fat bike in production.
Wow.
Available in the fall of 2014, the Bucksaw 1 will be $4,999 and Bucksaw 2 will be $3,999, and both will come with the RockShox Bluto fork.

Yep. I thought this was going to be on the April Fools list for sure. Turns out, the Rock Shox Bluto is a fat bike suspension fork, slated for release in June. If you’re out at Sea Otter, Rock Shox has a whole fleet of these for you to try out.

We’ve all read the various theories on tire and wheel size when it comes to long distance cycling or touring but surely, few consider to ride their fat bike for 500 miles on (mostly) sealed roads. The Lost Coast is a relatively untapped goldmine for road porn. It’s a route I want to do some day and Glenn Charles’ photos from a recent ride he did with some friends shows why.

Fat bikes were out in full force this year at NAHBS but few had the lines and attitudes of Black Sheep. I remember seeing them their first year and asking myself “who would ever want to really ride that thing?”. Turns out, fat bikes have an incredible, cult-like following and people love the creative, sexy lines of the Black Sheep fleet. Even I was amazed at how much fun it was to just ride in circles around the vacant space at the convention center. Titanium, fat and sexy. Who could ask for more?
