Saffron Frameworks Announces the Custom Collection Grāvā

Established in 2012 by framebuilder Matthew Sowter in London, England, Saffron Frameworks just announced the launch of its Custom Collection, offering four fully custom, made-to-measure models, covering road and gravel. Today we’re looking at the Grāvā, the gravel model. Find out more below…

This is not an off-the-shelf model; it features a completely custom geometry and sizing for each individual, ensuring a tailor-made fit, perfect ride feel, and bicycle handling for each rider’s needs. Each bike will continue to be handcrafted in their London-based workshop with the same care and attention that has always gone into every Saffron bicycle.

The Saffron Grāvā builds on over a decade of experience creating custom road and gravel bikes. This model is the culmination of the concept of the road less traveled. It opens up a world between the tarmac, bridleways, farm tracks, fire roads, and woodland singletrack. As fast and smooth on road as it is off, the Grāvā will take you anywhere you want to go.

Featuring a full stainless steel build, the Grāvā uses Columbus’ XCR tubeset and is constructed using silver fillet brazing, which has become a signature of all Saffron bikes. It includes 3D-printed stainless steel dropouts and an upper headtube, designed in-house and printed by a partner in Germany. The Grāvā integrates the ENVE In-Route system natively for fully internal cable routing and utilizes SRAM’s UDH at the dropouts for compatibility with all drivetrain brands and SRAM’s direct mount Eagle Transmission derailleur. With clearance for 700x45c tires, the Grāvā opens up a world beyond the street, inviting adventure where the asphalt ends.

This particular build features a carefully selected group of components to complement the Grāvā’s wide range of capabilities. It combines SRAM Force AXS shifters with the XX T-Type Eagle AXS 12-speed rear derailleur. Paired with a massive 10-52t SRAM Eagle cassette and an Ingrid 42t chainring, it maintains the simplicity of a one-by system while providing ratios to tackle any climb and terrain.
