Continuing the vintage and repurposed commuter bike theme we’ve had going for a few weeks now, Thomas Hirsch shares his Koga Miyata Superwinner build and words with us for this week’s Readers’ Rides…
This is a second life for an old road bike Koga Miyata Superwinner frameset. 650b wheels so you can run wider tires, fitted Tektro brakes. 1 x 9 wider range Shimano drive train with simple thumb shifter. Old reliable SON hub dynamo with SON light and cables.
Brooks seat and Brooks/Ergon grips. Matching, reliable MKS on old Deore cranks. Pizza / beer rack for the front and Tubus rear rack for some Ortlieb bags.
650b on an old racing frame is really fast & comfortable riding everyday although its not the racing look anymore. Better an eventful life for this frame than a rusting life in the garage.
We’d like to thank all of you who have submitted Readers Rides builds to be shared over here. The response has been incredible and we have so many to share over the next few months. Feel free to submit your bike, listing details, components, and other information. You can also include a portrait of yourself with your bike and your Instagram account! Please, shoot landscape-orientation photos, not portrait. Thanks!
