If the Womble is the ultimate Moots hardtail for all-mountain endeavors, the Steamboat Springs-based framebuilder’s newest bike, the MXC, is designed to be its fastest. The MXC is perfect for XC trails, singletrack, and backroad gravel. Bikes like this quickly become a modern classic, truly high-performance bike, and look genuinely fun…
Moots looked to its heritage models for inspiration here. The MXL is a close cousin to the MX RSL and Mooto X of past years, with updated tire clearance, a longer travel fork, and more modern off-road geometry. Each frame is available with Moots’ signature finishing options and pricing starts at $9,999 for Shimano XTR.
There’s no word if the MXL will fill in the ranks with its In Stock Bikes but we wouldn’t be surprised if it did in the coming months. To see one in person, you’ll have to roll on over to a Moots dealer to check out the MXL.
The 1x-specific frame has space for a whopping 38T rings while maintaining clearance for 2.4” tires and space for up to 3 water bottle mounts. The lightweight, large-diameter, double-butted front triangle joins a T47 bottom bracket and boosts 148mm dropouts to manifest in ultimate axle-to-axle tracking.
The MXC is best paired with 100mm suspension forks to achieve a refreshing 69-degree* headtube angle. And no, that’s not a typo – this rig is purpose-built for riders seeking a bike that excels in high-speed terrain. This titanium chassis is meant for the long haul. From 24-hours to ultras, its nimbleness excels.
