With what is the most unique profile in the drop bar universe, the Evil Bikes Chamois Hagar really shook y’all when we posted it during our Grinduro 2019 coverage. Well, this bike is now in stock at Evil and we’re all impressed at the brand’s bold move. There’s a lot to unfold here, so read on below.
The Chamois Hagar is a 700 x 50mm or 27.5 x 2.2″ wheeled machine with a modern mountain bike fit including a longer than normal reach, a custom fork, no toe-overlap geometry, 80mm of bottom bracket drop, seven bottle mounts, and completely weather-sealed construction. In short, this is as close to a modern mountain bike a rigid, drop bar bike can get.
Evil’s mountain frames have received years of accolades for their bomb-proof and progressive construction. As a small company, they’re able to pivot to address the demands of their riders and sponsored athletes, allowing their bikes to stay progressive and at the same time, last through the ever-updating and changing geometries.
The bike comes kitted with either Shimano GRX or SRAM Force 1, a dropper, and components that will take a beating.
This is by far the most polarizing bike design of the year. Hell, I’d even wager to say this is THE most progressive drop bar design, but it begs the question, “what would it be with flat bars?”
Personally, I really like what Evil is doing… What are your thoughts?
