Alonukis Frameworks Rinko/Collapsible MTB

Based in the Oberbayern region of Bavaria, Germany, this rinko-style MTB was built by Johannes Wandinger in collaboration with Davo of Guten Biken bike shop. Davo plans to travel throughout Europe and even packraft with this bike, so he wanted something durable and easily packable.

With thoughtful design elements throughout, like a segmented fork and seat stays, the vintage-inspired MTB has a rear end that easily unbolts from the bottom and folds over onto itself. Additionally, the stem has a custom quick-release system for quick removal. The front and rear lights are routed and mounted to avoid interfering with the frame’s packability.

Memento Cycles All-Road

One of this year’s SRAM Inclusivity Scholars, Memento Cycles went all out with this all-road build. The fully custom frame is meant to fit wide tires to be ridden everywhere in style, from touring to commuting.

Lots of additional tubing is used to artistically elaborate on the bike’s squid fork, including the front rack stopper shaped like a squid and the tentacle cable routing wrapping the top tube. There’s also a marine scene playing out on the headtube with clouds, waves, and a tiny boat. Functionally, the bike can fit up to about a 50 mm tire in the rear and has custom rack mounts added to the sliding dropouts for extra versatility.

True Love Cycles X Dyed In The Wool Gravel Bike

It’s been really fun watching Polish builders True Love evolve their Heart Breaker gravel bike over the years – from the original model featuring the Rock Shox RS inverted fork to Hailey’s custom version. For this show, Jan brought his newest iteration, the Heart Breaker Lite, built around the inverted Cane Creek Invert fork. This bike was also a collaboration with fellow Polish bag makers Dyed in the Wool and clever modular racks from Stalvante.

Other highlights of this super-detail build include True Love’s in-house-designed UDH dropouts, wild paint, and an intricate top cap from Jan’s friends at Sukiyaki Bikes in Japan. This is a proof-of-concept bike, which Jan will ride himself for a while to test new construction, geometry, and compatibility with the Intend fork. Like the bike, the DITW bags are equally as stunning and functional. Made to all be quick-release, they use a mixture of Fidlock magnets and plungers.

Stolen Garage Mini Velo

Stolen Garage, a Paris fabrication workshop and cafe, makes custom bikes branded “Stolen” and stock-sized gravel/all-road bikes called Charbon. This mini velo project started with a customer, who is a tall person, asking the team for a 36-inch-wheeled bike. He later decided a mini velo commuter was more appropriate for his needs.

While small, the bike still needed to be robust and carry bags or a rack on the front. Hence the 44 mm headtube, 38 mm diagonal tube, and double seat stay. The Segmented fork was another special element requested by the customer, who wanted the fork blades to protrude from the crown. The end result achieves a harmonious blend of rigidity and aesthetics, which is predominant through all of Stolen’s work.

MONoPOLE 01 Cargo Bike

The Monopole 01 is a new take on the front-loaded compact cargo bike with a modular platform and drive system. The belt operates on a proprietary notched system, resulting in low maintenance, reliability, and direct steering.

The new frameset is launching for the first time at Bespoked and features a modular bottom bracket box that can fit either a 73 mm English threaded BB or – when you open the box – it can fit a Pinion C-Line gearbox (6 or 12-speed).

Meerglas Frameworks Gravel Touring Bike

Based just outside Berlin, Tom Becker is one of the most renowned builders of exquisite, award-winning randonneur bikes in the world. While he had a couple of these very nice low-trail bikes on display, I was drawn to his take on a gravel bike. But, of course, this is not just any old gravel bike. Made of ultra-thin tubing in both the fork and frame, Tom will be testing the flex of this bike with a higher trail geo than his typical gravel bikes and potentially begin offering a more “gravel” focused design for his customers.

For accouterments, Tom incorporated these giant Halogen lights, which are connected to the bike’s rim dynamo system. Additionally, he found a one-off 1x chainring to fit his 60s steel Campy crankset. Tom also made the racks; the bags are deep customs from Gramm to resemble motorcycle gas tanks.

Huhn Cycles Chabo Trail Bike

The English translation for Huhn is “chicken,” and designer Ralf Holleis names all of his bikes after different variations of the bird, including Chabo. This full-suspension trail bike is the first Huhn to be considered a production model and is currently for order in three sizes. Designed around 130 mm front suspension and 120 mm rear suspension, with Reynolds 853 tubing, it moves around a rear flex pivot for ideal kinematics.

Ralf’s show bikes always drip with style, and this custom-painted and assembled Chabo is no different. The Biturbo wheels from Bike Ahead Components, as well as the complimentary colored suspension and drivetrain, are an incredibly stylish addition to this attractive frame.

Don Sebastiano Gravel Adventure Bike

Based in Austria near Vienna, Sebastian Bauer of Don Sebastiano built this wild adventure machine as his third ever full bike. Inspired by vintage moto designs, the trapezoid fork has a linear actuation over the 51mm of travel in the customized RS damper. But rather than a curved travel path as is typical with suspension systems, this is like a like a normal fork.

Sebastian also builds interesting steel racks, with a few on display in his booth. The larger one is actually designed to fit on one of his suspension forks.

Milli Cycles All Road

Named after milling machines and a unit of measurement used in Germany, Milli Cycles is the project of Janosch Hüttner. Janosch designed this all-road bike with an aero character yet has versatility and some comfort. Short chainstays, narrow profile, and aggressive saddle-to-bar drop make it a serious machine. Offsetting the chainstays with a tapered seat tube creates enough room to fit the plump Panaracer Gravel Kings.

This build was a collaboration with Tune Components, who supplied the super limited edition light pink colored parts. The stem and headset are brand-new machined pieces that enable internal cable routing.

Tune Components

Tune is a legacy brand in Germany. Their parts have been popular for as long as cyclists have sought out lightweight and high-performing tech (reference Speedneedle!). The German brand showed two new component systems at the show that caught my eye: the Yokto hubs and the yet-to-be-released internally routed stem/headset combo.

The new high-end hub sets weigh 230 g and feature a double ratchet mechanism with 240 POE. The bearing axle system is pre-loaded, eliminating the need to adjust for hub play, as could happen with previous-generation components. This preload adjusts itself as a wheel is placed in the bike. The stem is one of the first billet aluminum internal I’ve seen, and it looks great, particularly when paired with its associated headset cups.

Purple Dog Custom Lights

Nikola of Purple Dog in France has been refining a new generator lighting design for many years and was at Bespoked, showing his refined designs, which are now ready for production. Both larger units have internal rechargeable lithium batteries.

Along with the high-power lighting output, these units also offer USB accessory charging. Named the Companion and Stalker, they are dimmable, have remote controls, are compatible with rear lights. The Stalker, which is still a few months away from being ready, has a “farsight” mode that is essentially a high-beam over the lights dimmable cutoff beam.

Check in with Purple Dog for updates and availability.

And that’s it for this report from Bespoked Dresden! Stay tuned tomorrow for another gallery of beautiful bikes!
