Over the past few years, the fashion and outdoor recreation industry have influenced cycling footwear greatly and we’re here for it! Fizik‘s new Tempo Beat “casual road” shoes feature an SPD cleat/pedal interface and is designed for every rider and every road. While the sole isn’t designed for lengthy hike-a-bikes on chunky roads, they look perfect for casual gravel pedals. Check out more at Fizik.

Retrofitz: Turn any Sneaker into an SPD Cycling Shoe
Is this the answer everyone’s been looking for? Could be. Retrofitz makes these SPD kits, allowing you to cut up your sneakers of choice and add a cleat-mount. While they don’t sell the part kit outside of Santa Cruz, you can buy some ready-to-go conversions at their site. So is this the answer? Maybe, if that’s what you were looking for. But I din’t think the solution is as simple as this. Not unless you add a high-density nylon flank to the insole. But it’s a start.

Monkey Likes Shiny: SPD Camera Mount
Leave it to Jeff Tiedeken from MLS to construct with something as unique and simple as this. An SPD camera mount? Pretty rad. I’d love to see it used for a few wide-angle shots on a road descent. The motion can be a bit jarring on a track bike but it’d work for a few select clips like skidding. I think you’re onto something Jeff!
