Paul Component Engineering: New and Improved Bottle Opener

Woah woah woah, what? Now that Paul makes damn fine disc brakes, their bottle opener needed a bit of a re-design. In reality, this was one of those tradeshow moments every component manufacturer has dealt with. A loyal customer approaches the booth with a “you know what you should make?” comment. This time, it was actually a great idea. Add a rotor-tuning slot to the existing Bottle Opener. Boom. Done. Does this mean all the pre-rotor tuning openers will be worth millions? Cuz I have a few!

Mission Workshop’s New and Improved Bosun Merino Jacket

The Bosun was one of Mission’s favorite jackets and so when a relaunch was in order, they took the time for a little fine-tuning the tailoring. They updated the jacket to include a removable hood with zippered front hand warmer pockets, as well as cleaning up the fit. The new and improved Bosun Merino Jacket is constructed using 380 GSM Australian Merino wool that is spun with 2% lycra to increase stretch and durability. Wear it alone or layered with a rain jacket. Made in the USA, in limited quantities and shipping mid-February. See more at Mission Workshop.

CKPC Crewnecks

CKPC Crewnecks

Chris King Precision Components wanted to make sweatshirts for the winter season but they didn’t just want to outsource them. So what did they do? They cut their own patches, in house and then bought machines and hired people to sew them. Pretty cool, huh? They cost $52 and you’ll have to tell people what “CKPC” is, but they have an interesting story.

High Above Makes Handmade Hip Packs for Shredding

I’ll swear by a shredpack anyday. Why cover your entire back with a backpack when you can get away with a hip pack? Over the past few months, I’ve been obsessing over these functional packs, checking out what various makers are whipping up in their workshops. One such maker is High Above. Based in Bellingham, Washington, they make two sizes in their hip bags: Das Radpack (small) and the Cascadia (large). Both bags can be coupled with a Bottle Rocket holster for either a beer can or water bottle.

Check out the various color options at High Above and expect a shred pack showdown on the site in the coming weeks!

Search and State: Hooded Riding Sweatshirt

Far from the first “riding hoodie,” but one of the nicest looking ones in recent memory, the Search and State Hooded Riding Sweatshirt utilizes a sleek material with simple detailing to make it a great on or off the bike jacket. It’s constructed from ultra-durable Japanese french terry, with locking Riri zippers to a full size front pouch-pocket, internal routing for electronics and uses multiple panels for an ergonomic fit.

These are slim-fitting, like all SAS gear, so if you prefer a looser fit, size up.

King Cage Celebrates #MadeintheUSA with Free Shipping and Hardware

King Cage makes titanium bottle cages in Durango, Colorado. Ron’s one of my favorite personalities in the “industry” and I commend him taking a stance like this on his Instagram. I don’t know why anyone would buy a titanium bottle cage made in China when King Cage makes them in the USA for the same price.

To celebrate bad-ass made in the USA cages, Ron is offering a free water bottle, FREE made in the USA Paragon Machine Works hardware with his cages, along with free shipping in the month of December. Take advantage of this sale and celebrate made in the USA products.
