One day, Lauren said to me “I wish my commuter had gears”. For someone who loves supporting his frame building buddies, it was like music to my ears, so I contacted Ian at Icarus Frames right away. After some measurements and a lot of back and forth, we had an idea what to build Lauren. The end product was a low-trail touring bike that could be set up like a porteur for now and easily converted into a road-drop touring bike. As always, Ian provided some of the cleanest fillets in the business and now we just have to decide on a paint job.

Here’s one for the weekend and yes, I am aware some of you work at bike shops on the weekend, so apologies for rubbing this in every Friday.

What is it about the internet that makes people so entitled and judgmental? Who cares if someone else’s bike is set up differently than how you prefer yours. It’s their bike, not yours. I’m sure if your bike was featured, others would point out the nuances that you actually prefer, as faults. People are so quick to point out the negatives, rather than lift up the positives. All these symptoms are the mid-week stir-crazies. Just stop being so critical and look forward to the times when you can ride with others.

Just stop being an asshole and ride your fucking bike how you prefer.

Vinnie got rad on the Bicycle Revs gravel ride before the Philly Bike Expo. Unfortunately, I lost the other roll of film on the ride.

I love shooting 3200 Delta during the day. The grain just adds to the subject. But what I don’t like is when I forget to take the exposed rolls out of my bag before going through the airport’s xray. Whoops. Unfortunately, this was the only photo that survived and it’s a shame because this is a Beautiful Bicycle. Wilis’ Nagasawa built up quite nicely.

The light in Northern California is just magnificent when it pours through redwoods like this. Here’s a photo of Dave Trimble, founder of Red Hook Crit soaking in the waining daylight. I shot this just 8 hours after he landed in the States from Italy for the Red Hook Crit Milano.

It’s the weekend, I’ll be busy covering the Philly Bike Expo, so don’t expect any updates. Instead, head out and get on the road. I wish I could ride on the 1 every day.

There’s nothing better than drinking from the Earth after a mean Cat 2 climb in 90+ degree weather. Last weekend, a big group of us did the Geyserville loop and after the initial descent, there was a water trough filled with ice cold spring water. I took my Hasselblad out of the videographer’s car and snapped a few shots of my Geekhouse resting on this oasis.

I got my film back from last week’s riding in Northern California and there are some straight up road porn shots in there. Take this for instance. Who knew that the 128 is this gorgeous! It’ll be a little bit before I post the rest of the photos, but for now, enjoy the open road.

The blues of this Cannondale track bike really compliment the Autumn vibes in the photo. Brenton, once again with the superb composition. Love this man.
