One of the people associated directly with Yonder Journal is Hahn Rossman but that’s only one of the many projects Hahn is involved with. He’s a contributor for Bicycle Quarterly, a Rapha Continental rider and a seemingly endless supply of ride knowledge. Oh and he’s an accomplished frame builder. All from a Philly native.

Vernor shot this photo of Hahn on a “ride” and it’s gotta be one of my favorite “ride” photos to date. Although, I hope someone got in the river…

Next week, I’m heading out with Hahn and a few other individuals to #GoYonder once again. I can’t wait!

I love Peter Weigle. He’s one of the nicest frame builders you’ll ever meet and even though I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Ezra before, I’d say he’s a pretty nice guy as well. Both Fastboy and Peter’s bicycles have provided me with tons of inspiration and seeing them come together via Ezra’s lens is not to be missed… and even Jamie Swan was there! One of the reasons why I’m so pumped on Yonder Journal is that it will and has inspired people to #GoYonder. Errin from Frontage Roads did some planning and took on the Brovet 01 Old Ridge Road Permanent route with his buddy Joshua. So, how’d they do? Head over to Frontage Roads to find out.

This is absolutely over the top in every way but I love it, especially that fork. So much radness coming from Firefly these days.

This is a beautiful photo of a beautiful stem, Mitch. I’m getting so pumped on NAHBS, I can smell the flux. Even if Map Cycles isn’t going to be in attendance, he’ll be there in spirit. Over the past few years, I’ve really come to admire Mitch’s work and his new digs in Chico seems to be working out quite nicely.

Mitch from Map Cycles is cranking away in his new space in Chico on the 2012 Randonneur Project and these Schmidt SON SL forks are looking great. Nice work man. I can’t wait to see more. Till then, check out more at the Map Flickr.

It’s not easy finding a frame builder to crank out a production run on bikes. Most builders are slammed, with full queues and lack the facilities to undertake even a small batch. But when Box Dog Bikes approached Eric at Winter about making six of their Pelican randonneur frames, he couldn’t resist. There’s a whole Winter Flickr set outlining the process and more information can be found at Box Dog Bikes. Regarding ordering, call the shop!

This is something else. Mitch has been cranking away at the 2012 Randonneur Project builds and he’s posted up a few to the Map Flickr. I don’t think that color could get any smoother. It’s like butter.

Map is cranking through their Randonneur Project with this stack of forks:

“Finished forks: 12 internal wire routings, 24 brake bosses, 24 low-rider mounts, 12 rack attachment points, all brazed and finished. Ready for racks.”

After a successful run last year, The MAP Randonneur Project is on again for 2012. I’m not sure what the details are for 2012, but here’s the gist from last year:

“The MAP Randonneur Project is a traditionally inspired, light-weight randonneuring bicycle made for fast, long rides, mixed terrain, and big 650B tires. Combining the best in modern materials, classic style, and proven randonneuring geometry, the frame, fork, and rack have been designed as a unit to go the distance and provide the ultimate in comfort.

Each bicycle is custom-sized to your specification by choosing individual seat tube and top tube lengths. Provisions for generator lighting, fenders, water bottles, and frame-pump are all standard features. Frame-tubing is chosen based each individuals weight and riding style for the best ride characteristics possible.

In order to keep as close as possible to the custom process, only a small number of framesets and racks are produced each year. Building begins in December with delivery by June. Deposits of $1000 are taken until my capacity is reached.

The cost of the frameset including the same single-color finish included on all other MAP Bicycles is $3000 and the matching chrome plated handlebar bag rack is an additional $375″
