NYC Velo tweeted at me about this last week right before I was heading to Tokyo so I didn’t get a chance to check it out. The Smile is a new coffee shop on Bond St. in NYC and they’ve got a bit of coffee and cycling history up in their shop.

The Faema E61 revolutionized and eventually standardized the process of pulling a shot of espresso. Cyclists who aren’t familiar with the E61 will recognize the name Faema. In 1968, a young Belgian by the name of Eddy Merckx began to ride for the Italian coffee machine manufacturer. Now both names have made a mark in history. If you’ve ever wanted to taste a legend, now’s your chance; the coffee, not Merckx.
Head over to The Smile and try it out today!
Oh and follow NYC Velo on Twitter. Any bike shop that is on Twitter deserves to be followed! Keep it up guys and thanks for the heads up!
