Manual for Speed: American Criteriums
Did you know that Criterium racing began in the United States in the 1920’s, at a time when track racing was extremely popular throughout the country. The USA CRITS website refers to crit racing as “American Street Track Racing”? Or that “Criterium” is worth 13 points in Scrabble and 16 points in Words with Friends?

Manual for Speed Goes GIF at Vuelta al Pais Vasco
So… Manual for Speed realized one thing covering the Vuelta al Pais Vasco: photoz r overz. People just don’t have the patience these days, or the attention span to sit through a gallery anymore. They want motion. They want action but they don’t want videos. Because, videos are boring too.
What did MFS do? They made a GIF documentary and my favorite is the helicopter.
It’s wild, head over to MFS to check it out!

Tales from the 2014 Red Hook Crit – Manual for Speed
Red Hook Crit is here! Happy face! Put on your happy face. Yes it’s going to be cold, wet and it’s going to suck. Yes, that happy face of yours is going to be sprayed by the fender-less track bike topping upwards of 30mph as you rip through slick corners. Yes, you’re going to fall. Hard. Over people. Yes, you will lose this race you’ve trained all year for.
But, there is good news. Two journalist dudes will be in your face with a camera, making you look cool. Or in this case, one journalist dude who kind of looks like me (Prolly). Or I kind of look like him, because technically, he was born first… Check out Manual For Speed’s Tales from the 2014 Red Hook Crit below!

Manual for Speed at the Red Hook Critical Mass Tournament
Look, Manual for Speed isn’t exactly your everyday cycling news or photo site. They’ve clearly transcended that into the world of the weird. Daniel approached the 2014 Red Hook Crit with relatively new eyes and made the connection between it and Critical Mass. Before you get upset, he has some valid points…
You’ve really got to go to Manual for Speed to read the whole story.

Dan Chabanov and Manual for Speed: The Feed
So there’s this new sports nutrition service called the Feed. It’s actually kind of genius. You subscribe to a series of “boxes” that contain everything from hydration, to nutrition and recovery supplements. Either purchase their selection, or make your own. Then, each month, a box shows up at your door.
To keep things weird, Manual for Speed did a photoshoot with Dan Chabanov, showcasing his Pro Athlete box. Head over to Manual for Speed to see the in-depth report.
Side note: Both Manual for Speed and myself have boxes on the Feed.

I kinda want posters or stickers of this….

Manual for Speed and ICNY
Manual for Speed has taken their brand into design territory that most “cycling brands” wouldn’t touch and I love it!
“Manual for Speed partners up with ICNY Sport, again, on an evolution of the SPEED concept. Based on Op Art, the graphic treatment embeds the word SPEED in a series of contradicting lines and then repeats. Using reflective inks, the shirt and bandana provide visibility for the athlete, commuter or flash-using-selfie-taker.”

Attention Pro Cyclists: Please Send Manual for Speed Your Selfies
Last week, in a very sedated state, I requested that my friends at Manual for Speed do a feature unlike anything professional cycling has done before: #SelfieSundays. Yes, I want to see pro cyclists take selfies with their phones or cameras. Or camera phones even. Well, the call to arms is here:
DEAR PRO CYCLISTS, we need your selfies. Please send to team@manualforspeed.com and we'll profile you on our site. Manual for Speed dot com
— manual for speed (@manualforspeed) February 17, 2014
You heard them! Yes, you have to be PRO to submit the selfie. Wait, do pros even read this site?

Manual for Speed: Tour Down Under Stage 3 #UpgradeYourself
In what critics are calling “the best Manual for Speed post in 23.9 hours”, Daniel has continued to explore the various euphemisms of Australia, while working on his own Drop Bear impersonation. The Tour Down Under seems to be going a little better for Manual for Speed. See for yourself at Day 03’s coverage of the TDU.
