Kevin Mihovich wanted his Cinelli Mash track bike to stand out from the rest by being hidden. Does that make sense? So he commissioned West Coast Hydrographix in Redwood City, CA to cover his bike in real tree camo. Then, he enlisted the help of his friend Arthur Alvarez to do a photoshoot in the woods. I recently received a copy of Cinelli The Art and Design of the Bicycle and I still haven’t finished absorbing all the lovely photos. Yow! That’s a good looking bike. Cinelli is pushing their carbon Laser model, the Viva pretty hard and we can all see why. I first showed it to you in my Interbike coverage and now, here’s a crispy studio shot. Head on over to Bike Motion to vote for this bike. It’s in Dutch but Chrome’s translator works wonders. Also, for anyone wanting the high res of the above photo, I upped it here.
So yeah, the Red Hook Crit Milano sign up came and went (sorry for not posting that up) but a full roster means another packed year with an ever-increasing sense of competition. And with the prizes this year, there’s no wonder people will be gunning for it.

This just in from Rizzoli New York. It seems the fully-illustrated hard cover book, Cinelli The Art and Design of the Bicycle by Lodovico Pignatti Morano, is slated to be released next month, so head out to your local book store and pick one up.

Year after year, photographing Interbike goes from being an overwhelming and daunting task to me just knowing what people want to see. That and after I get over shooting in the horrible lighting, the yearly tradeshow’s bounty of Beautiful Bicycles just comes easy. This year, Cinelli packed a few punches, starting with the new single speed CX frame, designed by MASH. But the main surprise was the custom carbon Laser road. Wow.

Mash just posted their pre-order for the 2013 SSCX bikes. Get on it now. A lot of time went into designing these bikes and everyone’s super pumped on them.

For once, I’m actually sitting on some great Merckx Mondays content, so I’m going to let it float me for a few posts. This week, we’ll start off with Cooper Ray‘s lovely photos of Jay’s Colorado Merckx road. These photos were taken for Cultivar, a new enterprise arising in Brooklyn. More on that later, for now, let’s check out these lovely photos, taken on a Brooklyn rooftop, just before a sunset. Shots like this make me miss NYC.
For 2013, Cinelli has many new offerings but the one release I’m most impressed with is the collaboration with Mash on a new SSCX frameset. I know a lot of work went into this bike, so expect these frames to be a great option for race season next year. Or just some off-road fun.

Meeting viewers in person and seeing their bikes is one of my favorite things about traveling. This morning, DJ rolled into GSC on his Cinelli Mash Histogram and I tried to quickly sneak in photos before he noticed his bike was gone. It didn’t work because like a good owner, his eyes were on his bike the whole time. Who can blame him? Especially with the parts list…

Mike is over in Italy right now, visiting Cinelli and Columbus for a little PR&D. Not many people can say that their frames are designed in Italy, in conjunction with one of the most repsected names in cycling. I can’t wait to see what they’re cooking up.
