This whole ‘cross thing is getting seriouser and seriouser each year, which is bad! Cross is really fun and that funness should be treated with kid gloves. That said, just because it’s fun, doesn’t mean it isn’t painful and majestic when in the right venue. Like say, the Northwest…. Check out some recent photos shot by Andy Bokanev here!

cyclocross became serious years ago, when competitors decided having an exact duplicate backup of the six thousand dollar bike they’re riding was an actual, viable alternative to taking twenty seconds to change out a flat tire. rich kids clamoring over milliseconds is the definition of unfun.

I dunno, I’ve been to some pretty fun races, still…

Look, everybody is responsible for making the races they attend as fun and weird as they want them to be. If you can’t have fun at a race because some kid showed up with a nice pit bike then I feel sorry for you.

Hell yeah, I agree with Max. When I get a flat in a cx race, and there are no neutral wheels, I change my tube. I don’t use tubulars for that reason. Who cares if I didn’t get 14th place or whatever. Just go have fun riding your bike.

Great to see a Bianchi Roger out in the wild! Those bikes were ahead of their time / always wished I could get my hands on one. Great photos, Andy.

I couldn’t agree more. I had a Roger but it was stolen in Melbourne back in 2008, I’ve mourned it every day since. Great to see one in action.
