Mishka Summer ’09 Preview

The maniacs over at Mishka released a few teaser pics of the Summer ’09 line. Here they are, straight from the Bloglin. The Arik Roper and Daniel Mumford illustration on the Swamp Rot is one of my favorite shirts of theirs to date.

Affinity Kissena Frame

Affinity Kissena Frame

Alex, in his Quest for G left for LA on Sunday to begin the program. Just in time for his departure, the Affinity crew hooked him up with their Kissena track frame. The aluminum track bike is a perfect track machine and suitable for street use as well.

They previewed the frame at Interbike this past year and it will be available for pre-order shortly! More details to follow through their site and I’ll also post the updates. No idea on pricing at the moment, so keep watch.

If I’m not mistaken, the size shown is a large.

Freeman Transport Gravel Racer

Freeman Transport Gravel Racer

Freeman Transport‘s got a new project on the horizon. Entitled the Gravel Racer, this single speed touring bike comes in two models, the basic and the delux. The patinae on the fork is amazing. It looks like copper, but they used gun bluing and ferric browns to achieve the same rich coloration.

You can also purchase the waxed canvas and leather saddle bag for $75 from Freeman directly.

Text via Freeman Transport:

Nathaniel’s great-great-grandfather was an inventor during the Industrial Revolution. His contributions include many but perhaps his most controversial – the sites for the Colt .45.
In his honor we’ve built a bicycle with a finish similar to that gun, richly patinaed with gun bluing and ferric browns, sealed with tree wax and ready to age. It comes with or without couplings, stainless steel lugged rack, chain guard and fenders, and can be built fixed or coaster braked and is perfect for commuting or general transport.

Head over to Arkitip to see more shots of this beauty.

Volume Splined Spider

Volume Splined Spider

Volume’s got a pic of their splined spider for BMX cranks up on their Fixed site. I know it’s an older pic, but I figured I’d wait to post it closer to the release date. Tom and I were talking about it a few months ago when Mosher posted a pic of it on Trick Track. It looks interesting for sure and after I broke the spindle on the Andels in only 2 weeks, I’m switching back to the SRAM Omniums.

If those break, then I’m gonna most likely ride BMX cranks. Profile has a shorter BB spindle in the works, to bring the q-factor closer to track cranks, which will be huge. One of the things I hate about BMX cranks on a fixed gear is the wide-ass q-factor. Call me picky, but i much prefer the narrow stance of a track crank. It’s hard to get used to spinning with your feet two inches wider than they normally are.

Who knows, maybe it’ll be addressed sooner than later! Especially at the rate the sport is progressing.

Outlier Tropical Wool Cap

Outlier Tropical Wool Cap

Outlier does it again. Read up on their newly released Tropical Wool Cap.

Earlier this spring, biking on the edges of Brooklyn we stumbled on an incredible stash of surplus tropical wool suiting. Never ones to let things go to waste, we snatched it up and turned it into the OUTLIER Tropical Wool Caps. Tropical wools are nothing like the heavy ichy stuff you think of when you think wool. These are the same fabrics that you’ll find in a $3000 summer suit and they make for a midweight cap with a fantastic look, fit and feel. Lets hope we can keep finding more of this stuff!

The OUTLIER Tropical Wool Cap is made in collaboration with our friend and master milliner Victor Osborne and designed with the highest attention to detail. We started with Italian tropical wool suiting, known as the finest cloth in the world and graded in terms of a Super number. The higher the number, the finer the wool. These caps are all made from Super 80s or better, which means they will have similar performance qualities to our premium merinos. Perfect for riding across town and still looking refined and sophisticated on your next date.

The Super 80s are available in black and navy for $75.
The Highgrades are available in a dark blue nailhead and a light gray/blue for $90.

Fit wise, a small is 21.5 inches naturally and stretches to 22.5. A medium is 22.5 inches naturally and stretches to 23.5. A large is 23.5 inches naturally and stretches to 24.5. A traditional look with a modified four panel construction, fully lined and made in New York City for style and quality.

Affinity Facelift

Affinity just got a new facelift last weekend. Rimx came in and painted a huge mural. He started Thursday night and it took him until the wee hours of the morning to finish it.

Came out dope. Swing by the shop to check it out!

They should be getting in another addition to the shop soon. Something I helped them out on.

The Complete Ride Bike Preview

As a continuation of the previews for their new collaboration entitled, “The Complete Ride”, Hypebeast has released more information today.

Looks like they’re doing collaboration bikes with Bianchi. A D2 Pista and a Bianchi Pista have been matched to the colorways of the sneakers Solebox and Hypebeast worked on with Adidas.

Here’s the information from Hypebeast’s post:

With the previews of the Hypebeast | Solebox x adidas “The Complete Ride” Zeitfrei behind us, here’s the final piece to the project which ties together the whole Zeitfrei concept as Bianchi participates with two special offerings. Both bikes are inspired by their respective sneaker colorways as well as taking different routes in execution. The Solebox version based on the Bianchi CroMo steel Pista (which resembles the company’s 2010 flathandle Pista offering) is of a more timeless nature while the Hypebeast version is based on the Pista butted Aluminum frame and features modern and contemporary design with a more performance driven aesthetic. Following the completion of “The Complete Ride” project, they will be showcased through various Bianchi mediums before ultimately being auctioned off for charity.
